What's new

NBA Playoffs thread.

Stojakovic came in for em big towards the end, kudos to the Mavs. 4-0 sweep time!!

I thought Dallas was going to lose when him and Barea missed a couple 3s in the fourth, but they kept shooting them and hitting them. Barea's penetration gets open shots on the outside.

Has anyone been watching the Mavs offense these playoffs? It's fantastically basic, and very malleable. The two things I like: they run pick and roll with everybody. Yeah, Dirk is what makes it effective since he gets crazy switches and he can make anything. But the Mavs run it with 3 different players, the bigs down low know it's coming and cut, and they space shooters off it really well. The other thing I like is Carlisle LOVES to play matchup. He tortured Portland posting Marion on their little guards, and now he's torturing the Lakers inability to defend the point. In other words, the P&R is their bread and butter, but Carlisle changes his gameplan when he sees any weakness he can exploit.

Incredible.

Taking advantage of matchups and adjusting the gameplan to exploit opponents' weaknesses instead of just running the same system/play no matter who's in your lineup and no matter who you're playing against.

I just hope that someday the Utah Jazz will install this kind of system. Maybe we'll learn... Someday.

This sucks.

Miami is just blowing through the east.

They're about to Jimmer Boston and will sweep the Bulls.

I hope the WC champ is up to the challenge.

What's sad to me is that KG finished 1-10, 7 points.

I know Malone took a lot of crap. But KG's performance reaked tonight on a level that should scar his legacy. I think even Malone today could score more than 7 points on Bosh.

Malone at 40 could still put up 20 and 10. Even late in his career he could perform better in these playoffs than most of these bigs in their primes. His true greatness is shown when you compare him to the forwards of today. Pau Gasol, Bosh, KG, and Boozer couldn't even hold his jock strap.

It's sad he played in an era dominated by Magic, Dream, and MJ.

Anybody bothered by how Miami plays b-ball? I find their game ugly, even though it is effective and they have two of the most dynamic players ever. When crunch time comes, it is simply give it to either lebron or wade and let them go one on one. Then the D focuses on them, they work hard to get an ugly shot. They are good enough to make them but it sure is not pretty b-ball. With their talent and two of them on court, they ought to be able to get a bunch of easy scores with solid team play. But it rarely happens. Very dissappointing. I would sure like to see what they could do with a Pops or Phil as coach.

I agree.

Their offensive game isn't based on running good sets, screens, or ball movement. It's based on 2 guys that cannot be defended. They go one on one until the defense screws up.

I noticed that as well. The last minutes of the 4th and the beginning of OT, the only touches were by Lebron and Wade. Bosh still bothers me. Just thought I would add that.

On the other hand, I am enjoying watching how the Bulls use the ex-Jazzmen. Ronnie B is a backup and ignored in the offense. KK is a three point shooter. They actually run plays for 3 point shots. Isn't that amazing? And Thibideau (sp??) sure has them hustling on defense.

And best of all, he's using Boozer in his best role possible. He didn't even play one minute in the 4th quarter last game!

Tom Tibeklrelrkeu, the Bulls coach, is one hell of a coach! COY for sure!

Wow!

For as much credit as Saint Ainge gets for putting the Big 3 together. He should receive just as much blame as sending Nate Robinson and Perkins to the Thunder. That trade foolishly put the championship aspirations of that Celtic team on the 100 year old legs of Jermaine O'Neal and Shaq.

Not only did that trade destroy their depth, but it ruined chemistry and their "thug" mentality.

Hell, even Nate Robinson probably would have contributed more to the Celtics this year than Jeff Green and Kristic did. Sad!

Why can't the Jazz make a deal with an idiot like that? Wouldn't it be nice to trade stuff we don't want for good starters that meet our needs?
