Insanity. If someone had written this political season as fiction people would have thought it was so ridiculous and over the top that it was not worth the paper it was written on, but now that it's actually happening we can hardly bring ourselves to look the other direction. And every time we do look away something even crazier, like this bizarre debate from Planet Insanity, happens.
I would love to watch a live feed of Hillary's face as it goes on. She's going to get absolutely crucified. I'll bet they spend a large percentage of the time talking about her.
I think without a doubt the fact that Hillary will likely be the Democratic nominee is the biggest reason Trump might win it all. It's a scary prospect for many, but the same can be said for Hillary. Unreal "dislike" numbers for both. Should we be surprised that it will come to this? Should we expect better of ourselves? Something's not right if our choices are Trump and Clinton. I think de Tocqueville might have said something to the effect that in a mass democracy like our own, divested of an aristocratic class, mediocracy would rise to the top. Not the creme, the mediocre. Something is wrong when a reality TV egomaniac can just bombast his way to the nomination while the leaders of that party sit slack jawed wondering how did this happen and how can we derail him. Not that both parties don't have a lot to answer for. Not that they don't have all of this coming. A tumultuous time in our history for sure. And you can bet it's going to be a summer of riot police and crowd control. Amazing....
