It sucks I gave out all my neg rep in this thread before I got done with all the trolls. If you can't see that the guy was asking for it then you are no better than them. So get on with your hypocritical self and go **** yourself.First off: Different New Orleans Fan here. I'm sorry we had an ***hole New Orleanian come troll your board. As a city and fan base, we really are better than that.
Second off: Before we got the Hornets, I was a big fan of the Stockton and Malone teams. In a perfect world the Jazz name would have been left in New Orleans, but that ship sailed 30+ years ago. I don't even really want it now -- too much history of the name is tied to SLC. Unfair to both cities and franchises. I know that the VAST majority of New Orleanian fans want to get rid of the Hornets name -- that name deserves to be in NC and never should have left.
And Finally: Stay classy SLC. Good to know we aren't the only fan base with a few ***holes.
They are trolling and you are whinning what else is new?Can we ban the babies I count the same ones everyday crying over everyone else's opinions?
Temporary? A New Orleans based owner is buying the franchise.
Who else does it?
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, new owner Tom Benson tried to permanently move the Saints to San Antonio when the team played a few games there after Katrina. Even though he was born and raised in Louisiana, he's still not a "safe bet" for keeping the Hornets in NO.
Yeah, Clippers is a downer.
The Clippers name is what they were called when they were in San Diego then they moved to Buffalo (Braves) and then back to LA if I am not mistaken. Most franchises don't change their names when they move but some do.
Rams - Cleveland to LA
Rams - LA to St. Louis
Cardinals - St. Louis to Phoenix
Jazz - NO to SLC
Hornets - Charlotte to NO
Colts - Baltimore to Indy
Lakers - Minnesota to LA - Can you imagine if the T-Wolves had asked the LA Lakers to give back their name?
Montreal Expos change their name and so did the Browns when they moved to Baltimore to become the Ravens. There are other examples.
I think in today's era, the leagues are making the respective teams leave names and colors. The last teams to move in each of the major sports have all done this:
Seattle to OKC
Cleveland to Baltimore
Montreal to Washington
Change them to the NO Seahawks. They are going to be playing in Seattle soon anyway.
I think we should sell them Jazz for $25 million, their first pick this year, and Gordon...and we could be called the Utah Seahawks! My two favorite teams could have the same name!
What about the Utah Seagulls, after our state birds. You can give the Lakers back to Minn. and then rename them the LA Crickets.jk.
Wait, are seagulls really Utah's state bird?
Yes, yes they are.
Damn that is terrible.
