What's new

New star wars

Doesn't Leo get raped by a bear in the movie? I think I'm gonna get the book too. I ain't like fish though, I'm about that paper life.
I got too many books and get sick of finding places to store em. If I read a book on kindle and like it enough then I sometimes by the book in paper form too. Or if it's a new jack reacher book, game of thrones book, or Stephen king book. I like to get those ones on paper too. The kindle does kick *** though.

My favorite is a long day of fishing and then reading for an hour or two on the river

Ebooks >>> paper books. I have an entire wall worth of books, plus several large boxes, although I started buying most of my books in digital format 6 years ago. I wouldn't even know what I'd do with the ~300 digital books I have if they were physical. Probably rent a seperate place just for the books.

E-Books can be read with no hands (don't need anything to hold the pages down) so you can eat while reading or whatever your into, no bookmarks, word definitions, storage, portability, etc

There is something romantic/ comfortable/ nostalgic about reading an actual book.

I'm probably the least sentimental person you'll meet. So ebooks all the way for me.

I just haven't done the e book thing yet. I'm sure they are great. 8 just don't read enough to spend the time on getting a tablet and setting it up and stuff.

Also, I'm kinda lazy and late to the consumer tech scene on a lot of things.

I can't stand reading E-Books, just isn't the same. Make my eyes hurt and I read slower.

Obviously some parts of the film werent great, but overall i enjoyed it. Some of the major plot points happened too fast maybe.

I thought the acting was good, especially comparing it to the other star wars movies. The characters and dialog were great. Kylo Ren
was pretty effective at being the new bad guy. Solo and Leia were both great. Only had a few minor issues with the plot, but this
is supposed to be a fun action movie that doesnt suck. It certainly met my expectations.

Siro,

Without spoiling anything (which I don't think would spoil actually but just in case), how do you feel about the change in motivation in The Revenant?

As far as your eyes hurting and reading slowing, it all depends on what you are reading from.

My kindle is black and white only and uses technology to make the screen appear exactly like a page. No eye soreness at all

I have a b/w kindle and when I'm reading from it or a paper book the last thing that I'm thinking about is weather I'm reading from a kindle or paper book. I'll probably never buy another paper book.

Change in motivation? I don't know if I understand you correctly, but I noticed an, um, additional family member in the movie. I'm baffled as why they found that necessary. I'm thinking perhaps it is to address the fact that in the book, the treatment of the Natives is a little one dimensional. I don't know. I guess it's a bit worrying, but the director is very good, and I expect him to maintain the integrity of the work.

Sometimes I come across books that do not have a digital version. In 2015! So I'm forced to buy them in paper form. Other times, a book has a lot of graphs, tables, and scientific data, in which case I get the hard cover version since it is larger, easier to read and navigate, and easier to reference in the future. Other than that, I always opt for the ebook.

I'm also one of those people who aren't even bothered reading on a normal tablet. I prefer a Kindle, but I'll use my tablet sometimes for several hours without any eye strain.

I saw The Force Awakens last night and I was completely blown away. While I had high hopes, I never imagined it would not only meet, but exceed my expectations. As to your thought on some issues with the plot, I had read before hand that Abrams was taking a "less is more" stance in regards to the script because he didn't want to belabor every aspect of the story. He really wanted to keep it basic and trust the viewer to get where they needed to go.

I loved this movie more than I thought possible. It took me right back to the feelings of being a kid again, sitting in a theatre watching Jedi. For me, everything was done as close to perfection as possible and Abrams did a masterful job of making this a true Star Wars movie. It's a 10 outta 10 for me, and I'm down right giddy that we finally have another Episode that carries on the legacy of the first 3.

I was low on the expectations but I was pretty impressed with what they have done. This definitely was a Star Wars movie. So you can leave the fear of Disney behind and go see it if you like Star Wars.

In the trailer, I thought this was gonna be a futuristic action movie that would fail to be a Star Wars sequel in terms of plot and exciting moments but no. It certainly was one. When it was over, me and my friend looked each other and said "a job well done".

You are correct. And I imagine based on common sense they added that bit to dummy it down because let's face it, what's stronger motivation than that? Especially bared on the way they show it. And yes, the Native influence plays in.

One thing I fear is that the director (who I highly like) adds a subconscious Hispanic element it too much. I'm not sure if that makes sense as I'm buzzed but...

Good catch, Joe.

Siro, this comment above was in response to your comment to mine on The Revenant.
