New star wars

Didn't think of this, but this makes sense... the only thing is wouldn't Rey have known already that her father is Luke?

No. She has no idea who her father is. Went into exile when she was young. Shows in a flashback. She would've been too young to remember who her parents were.

Ren is Leah's son. Leah is Luke's sister. Also. It's not a sure thing that Luke is Rey's father. The movie only hints at this due to the business with Luke's old saber. At this point it's only speculation more then fact, though I'm 90% sure she is Luke's daughter.

Ya we know ren is leah and solo son. They explain that in the movie. Not sure why you keep bringing it up.

I was saying that maybe the reason ren struggled against rey is because she is the daughter of luke so maybe she is much stronger in the force than you realize and therefore it makes sense that ren struggled against rey

Yeah I think you're onto something here... it also makes perfect sense for Rey meeting Luke being the final scene... a double meaning if you will.

Oh. I see what you are saying, but no way Rey should be able to beat Him in a light saber duel. He is a multi year trained sith wether he's a full sith or not this was the first time she's ever held a light saber and she wins? That doesn't make sense. That's my whole thing about this. Star Wars has always had a strong badass as a villain. He's already been beaten by her now she will be trained by Luke. Ren has no chance now. I'm just not happy about this.

Also yes as a Jedi she would be powerful as Luke's Daughter but don't forget that Ren should be at least equally powerful as Leah's son as she and Luke share the same blood line as brother and sister.

Also makes sense from the perspect that Rey was such a good pilot/mechanic at a young age... skills that Luke was very natural at as well.

Wow this makes too much sense....

Since Ren has spent years developing his ability a he should be much more powerful then Rey, who hasn't even started developing them. I'll concede that she could possibly stop him from reading her mind, but not beat her in a light saber duel when this is the first time she's ever wielded a light saber.

By your logic it would have been impossible for Luke to have beaten Vader.... and yet.....

Not the same thing. He was a trained Jedi. She had never used or even held a light saber. And it was the second time Luke had fought Vader. The first time Vader clearly outclassed him. Even The emperor had told Luke that he had become more powerful then his father, who by the way was much older at this point.

Well, Ren had just taken a crossbow shot from Chewie, which as we saw is a badass weapon. So he was a bit weak during the encounter.

why is this so exciting? srs question

A healthy franchise just means they're on the right track and more quality movies coming in the future... I just hate it when a favourite film of mine tanked and that's the end of the road.

I hope the Star Wars franchise keeps spinning off good quality movies for years to come.

so the bottom dollar is directly equated with quality? ok.

I wouldn't say it's exciting but it is an all time record.

To me it shows that there is a titanic demand for Star Wars.
