Which is exactly what he used to do in Utah before his melt down. Hopefully he convinces the Thunder of his sincerity long enough for them to pay him big, and then he reverts to the man we know and don't love. If that happens we will have moved one spot closer to the playoffs even without improvement on our own team.Sounds like Kanter is saying what he needs to say to get paid.
Yeah, if the goal was to miss the playoffs, it was a great pick up. Otherwise, it remains to be seen what happens in FA. OKC may very well have given up multiple assets for the right to overpay the worst defensive center in the league or for a half-year rental.
Thea best part about that article is that it glaringly overlooks the fact that Kanter's defensive mentor was Gobert. Rudy was always telling Enes where to be and how to rotate on defense. He would chastise him when he needed it and praise him when that was called for. Just because he was drafted two years later and is the same age doesn't diminish his value. Future Jazz players are going to have the same experiences. Hopefully they appreciate it more.
Unfortunately I can't neg him again.Free rep for whoever turns the troll red.
Richard Jefferson on talking with Enes Kanter, "He believes that offense is more important than defense. Yes, I'm telling that to the media. Those are his own words. Not saying that he says that they're equally important. He says that in the playoffs, you need good offensive players. And I was like, you will not find a championship team that doesn't know to get stops in the last five minutes of the game."
I distinctly remember Richard Jefferson trying to help Kanter out with defense and Kanter thinking it was a joke.
If Richard Jefferson was saying that publically, I'm sure that he wasn't the only one frustrated. . .
I know we all like to flame Kanter constantly now, but article kind of has a point.
Of course naturally great defenders don't need a defensive mentor, but maybe naturally poor ones do. Kanter had Al Jefferson to emulate, that couldn't have helped his defensive mindset since Jefferson basically used defensive possessions to rest so he could play offense. Yeah, he had Rudy and Favors, but you don't get mentored by guys your same age.
Meh you get mentored by whomever you allow to mentor you. I learned a ton early in my career from a "kid" who was barely 20 but one of the best management minds I had ever met, and 6 years my junior (he is now a COO somewhere making ridicudollars). I think the Jefferson quote was closer to the truth. And, yet again, it comes back to personal effort and attitude.
Half right half wrong. I actually think he's an elite post defender. And very bad help defenderJefferson is not as bad a defender as everyone here makes him out to be. Easily better than Boozer. Lightyears ahead of Kanter. Probably just at or maybe a little below average for a big.
didn't Eaton come out after the season ended and offer to work out with Gobert? Hope Gobert takes him up on that offer. LolThis article fails to explain how Gobert is our best defensive center in over twenty years as well as how Utah led the league in team defense (94.9).
