What's new

NFL Offseason

Miami can just draft Tannehill. That kid has a lot of talent. Anyways I don't know why you think Manning is going to chase a LT, he never had a great one his whole career. Manning protects his own sides with presnap reads. Indy's line was never great, Peyton made that team look a lot better. There's a reason they went from SB contender to the #1 overall pick.

There are other options too. I always liked Jason Campbell, for instance. He has been in bad situations his entire career, and has never looked like a bad QB to me. Guy just has a new OC every season. IMO this kind of journeyman is a much surer bet than Kolb or Flynn who are living off the established offenses they came from. Is Miami going to be a WCO? I know Daboll wasn't.

I do think Brown that since you've watched Thomas (Being a Browns fan) that your opinion could be swayed a bit.

Not going to say Thomas is not better than Long though.

I am a Long fan (Being a Michigan Fan) and watched him since his early days in Michigan so of course I'll be swayed that way.

I think the easy answer is it is sixes... you can't go wrong with either guy. It is like choosing between the hot blond and the hot brunette. It's a flavor of the day for most.

I think I would trade 4 of the Steelers lineman (Everyone but Pouncy) for either one of those guys and be happy.

Steeler fans don't know what a LT does. Their QB makes his living off of broken plays.

I hope Manning doesn't go to Denver. A) I hate the Broncos B)Tebow soap opera sucks already. Add Manning into the mix and it gets even worse.

AZ would seem to be a good fit if they can deal Kolb. Dome & Fitzgerald.

Sounds like Manning is now planning to meet with Dolphin and Titan coaches between now and Wednesday. I'm getting ready for the reality that Ryan Tannehill is the next QB of the Miami Dolphins. While Miami is awaiting Peyton's decision, Flynn will sign elsewhere and Miami will then basically be forced to draft Tannehill with the 8th overall pick ( which is way too high IMO).

Sigh.

I hate the Bronco's as well, but as a 49er fan, I'd rather Payton goes to the Broncos before AZ.

As for my 49ers.... I feel they are a #1 wr away from a super bowl. With that said I want V Jax. He's a big redzone target that can stretch the field and open things up for Davis and Crabtree on intermediate routes. For the love of god, I hope they don't sign Moss.

The 49ers just signed Randy Moss. Very interesting. I hope he does better than Edwards did last season. I also hope we target another WR in FA. Go after Wallace or Jackson.

I applaud the 9ers for trying to upgrade their horrid WR corps (Crabtree is a joke), but 35-year old WR's never seem to trend upwards. If SF is serious about improving their WR's, they should indeed look into Jackson or Wallace.

Agree. I did say in my other post that I didn't want the 49ers to sign Moss, that's because I'm afraid they won't go after a top wr free agent. I will say if they do land V. Jax or Wallace, the Moss signing is a good one. It's a one year deal so it's low risk, and Moss should be motivated to play well, like when he signed with NE. Moss should make things easier on Vernon Davis.

Don't know if it is literally true with you but I have been telling people for years that Braylon sucks. He's so bad.

I'm looking forward to agreeing with you on something.

But you're wrong. Alex Smith did not make that receiving group look better. They were one ****ty play away from the SB. They would be better with one more weapon but who isn't?

Hang in there, we'll agree on something someday. Maybe.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Alex Smith is an elite QB, but I watched alot of 9er games this year and I was amazed to see how often Crabtree was put in position to make a play and couldn't come through. Seriously, I think he's horrible. The Braylon Edwards signing had no positive effect and as a Dolphin fan I can tell you first hand how bad of a WR Ted Ginn is. He'll make 2 or 3 amazing plays in the passing game all season and spend the rest of the year running poor routes, dropping routine catches, and don't even ask him to make a tough catch in traffic. He isn't anything more than a return specialist.

If anything, I think the WR's made Alex look worse than he actually is. If Moss can give them anything and SF is smart enough to acquire a Vincent Jackson or Mike Wallace, I think Alex will look like an honest to goodness above average QB. Not elite, but certainly better than alot of what is starting in the NFL right now.

The Moss signing is low risk? Guy has proved he can be a pretty destructive force when things don't go his way. If I were the Niners I would have just steered clear of that guy.

Moss is 2 things:

1. A freakishly athletic and talented receiver.

2. A complete head case capable of completely destroying valuable team chemistry.

My optimistic side wants to believe that Harbaugh will not take any crap from Moss, and that if he can be the big play receiver he once was, winning will keep it all together.

My pessimistic side is scared that Moss not only won't make a meaningful contribution, but will erode the unity that the Niners have developed.

If you want Wallace the Steelers will pick up a 1st round tender.

I want Wallace back but either way it is a win. Brown/Sanders isn't the best combo at WR but I would think they would target a replacement with that Tendered draft pick they would get if it were to happen.

We will gladly give up #30 for Wallace.

My Feedback on Wallace

The guy is a flat out burner but WR's in the Steelers offense are a different breed. Because of Ben and him buying time it does free them up quite a bit.

He definately improved the past 2 years on his route running and being able to run shorter routes.

I agree - a #30 pick for Wallace is a steal BUT it all depends on the contract as well that you sign him too.

He has said multiple times that he wants to remain a Steelers and the FO has stated that he is top priority so I can see him staying in Pittsburgh.

The Niners cannot afford to flop on another offensive lineman is my feedback for you. Since they probably won't be a player in FA for those positions (Not that Ive heard), they will probably go O Line again in the 1st or 2nd rounds IMO. 2 of your linemen rated almost the bottom of the league at their positions.

I was wondering how YB felt about the trade and didn't think he'd like it but then hard not to like more draft picks.

As a Phins fan I feel like last year and several before that all over again. I am way to skeptical and wouldn't want Flynn (See Kolb and AJ Feeley) so I'd rather not over pay and be yet again disappointed. Even the Manning situation feels like Déjà vu like Culpepper, granted Manning has been a model QB but just saying injury concerns are similar and so I kinda feel like no matter what decision they make it will be wrong.
Although I am leaning towards Manning and if they did get Manning and Reggie Wayne (or I guess Dallas Clark) that could be potentially awesome.

For the Draft 1st round pick I was thinking the OL from Iowa as the RG/RT is the weakest OL position and if he pans out would give them a scarey dominate OLine.

Marshall to the Bears for two 3rd rounders.

Miami's really gonna be mediocre this year. At best. The Matt Barkley Sweepstakes begin.
