NFL Talk

I heard the Broncos publicly said they'd consider a 3rd, 4th or 5th for him. Brilliant! That GM should be fired pronto.

I think it's a good move. It's going to be hard to get anything better than a 3rd for a One Hit Wonder WR who is 31 and on the last year of his contract. Broncos are obviously either rebuilding with Tebow, or tanking with Tebow to get Lucky. But yeah, they should play more hardball and just say "We want a 3rd rounder" because I doubt anyone will offer that when they know a 4th or 5th is acceptable.

I think he was referring to the fact that they said they would consider either a 3rd, 4th, or 5th round pick. Now somebody can approach them with a 5th round offer and settle on a 4th rounder instead of approaching with a 4th and settling with a 3rd. Not exactly the best negotiating principle to give somebody else multiple choices with each one being worse (or better, depending on whose side you are on) than the other.

Well I'm assuming that with a 5th rounder they would also be looking for a competent defensive player.

Supposedly both Lloyd and Royal have requested to be traded. They are both in contract year and, I'm going out on a limb here, probably don't want their stats to suck by playing with Tebow.

Lloyd should go to St. Louis. Familiar with McDaniels system and I don't think anybody needs a receiver more then the Rams right now. But the Rams don't usually make any additions that would help the team so it probably won't happen

I don't really see a point in the Rams trading for Lloyd this year though when they could simply sign him next year. They aren't competing for anything. Too me the most sense for a team to trade for him would be the Titans. They need a #1 with Britt's injury and are actually competing for a playoff spot.

I think Cam Newton may go down as the best dual threat QB of all time. If the Panthers can give him some good receivers he is going to be nasty. It might not be a bad idea to get Brandon Lloyd for him. I doubted him, but he is extremely poised for such a young player.

Steelers win even though I don't think Big Ben completed a pass in the 2nd half. Great 1st half, ugly 2nd, but a win is a win and I'll take it. 4-2 with the Cardinals up next.

How great is Jim Harbaugh?!! 49ers go into Detroit, and nearly everyone picked Detroit to win. What happens? 49ers come out with the win!! Final score is 49ers 25 Lions 19. Harbaugh is definitely leading candidate for Coach of The Year now. 49ers now stad at 5-1 heading into their bye week. Great news for the Niners coming out of the bye week: Braylon Edwards is expected to return. This team just keeps getting better every week. It's great to be 49ers fan. Niners are back, and are contenders in the NFC. Watch out for the Niners!!

Harbaugh seems to be the biggest douche of a coach in the league though. First he play action passes on 4th and 3 last week at the end of a blowout and now this week he gets a little too rough with Schwartz after the game. If you're on his team, you love it, but that **** will catch up with him imo. Karma's a mother ****er.

By the way, Jim Schwartz doesn't like Harbaugh. Check out this video from after the game.

No one does. I remember before he coached his first game how the media was saying he won't make any friends. He does seem to be a good coach though. And mazel to Alex Smith. He deserves it.

In the span of 5 seconds at the end of that game, I went from absolutely loving Jim Harbaugh to souring on him and hoping to see his jaw detached from his grandpa face.

I had no problem with what Harbaugh did. He was excited for a BIG win. All Harbaugh did was shake Schwartz's hand a little too hard, which he even admitted to in his press conference. Schwartz was talking trash all week, and even talked trash in the pre-game. He said the 49ers deferred after winning the toss because they were afraid of the Lions home crowd. Guess what Schwartz? Niners have deferred every time when winning the toss this season.

All Harbaugh did was be completely unprofessional and be an ***. Got it.

The writer of this article has it right.
Schwartz said "there's a protocol in this league," implying Harbaugh violated some unwritten rule of postgame sportsmanship. It's rich, to say the least, that Schwartz would be offended after a season of exuberant fist-pumps, cursing at officials and taunting opposing players. Those instances were fun and representative of the Lions' newfound passion, but this one violated protocol? Hmmmm.

Harbaugh might have been exuberant, but nothing that I saw him do was unsportsmanlike. If he directed an obscenity to Schwartz, it wasn't clear on video. And even if had, it wouldn't be beyond the realm of an NFL coach to maintain his composure in that situation rather than charge after his counterpart.

.......

For his part, Harbaugh took the blame for shaking Schwartz's hand too hard.

"That is totally on me," Harbaugh said. "I shook his hand too hard. I really went in and it was a strong, kind of a slap-grab handshake."

But to be clear: No handshake and no obscenity could merit Schwartz’s reaction. Either there is more to this story, or Schwartz needs to take a few (dozen) deep breaths next time. If he had an issue with Harbaugh, he should have settled it on the phone Monday morning. To use a phrase I’ve heard him say a few times: Good grief.
