Nightmare scenario could be unfolding...

So what OP is saying is the 300 million dollar man Gordon Hayward and his sidekick 150million dollar George Hill aren't good enough to secure homecourt advantage playing next to arguably the best center in the league??

Nightmare scenario indeed..

Oh and they paid a lottery pick for Hill and he's gonna walk or run the price up a ton this summer?

Thought this thread was gonna be about cap concerns.....

I think cap concerns are a question but I mean if we are questioning the legitimacy of the Hayward contract, that leads me to believe you didn't watch the game last night. If you're looking for a scapegoat, Hayward and Hill are not it. My concerns largely fall on the Jazz withering away their chance TO keep these guys.

Hill's contract is a concern sure, but the price paid honestly is worth it. With all my concerns and seemingly negativity about the finish we could have, the Jazz are still sitting in the top 5 in net rating this season. They don't do that without Hill. Also, reflect back on the draft last year, not ideal. Looking 12-30, I see Hernangomez, Caris LaVert, Skal... not a whole lot of talent showing itself as of yet.

After losing 3 winnable games in a row my excitement for the playoffs is dwindling.

I dont see enough resolve from the team. It seems like every time we have a couple monster games and get some recognition we completely **** the bed.
Positive is Hayward is coming on, and our core is becoming more obvious.

Without a healthy Favors this team wont do jack squat in the playoffs.

Should have rested Gobert and Hill in the Cavs game. Would have given us a better chance against Chicago and Indiana.

Sign me up for a 7th seed matchup against the Spurs, especially if we have Favors coming back full-strength.

That team of softs doesn't scare me in the slightest. We already beat them in their turf early in the season, and we can do it again in one of the first two games. LMA always ****s his pants against Rudy, and I'm sure Ex can give Patty a rough time. Tony is basically almost dead, Manu is dead, and we only have Kawhi to worry about (and I have confidence in Gordon taking it to him).

Our main priority right now *needs* to be getting Derrick and Rodney completely healthy. That is absolutely crucial. We can't go anywhere without both of them clicking. Might not happen this year but we gotta hope for the best.

If we beat SAS, then we match-up with Houston in the 2nd round. Another favourable match-up.

Quit tripping out everyone. Only reason to panic is if GSW drops to 2nd seed and then we get 7th. Then I start stressing, knowing KD is back.

The Jazz are 6-4 in their last 10 both OKC and Mem are 5-5. Even if the Jazz went 4-7 to finish the season both of those teams would have to go 7-5 for us to fall to 7th. If the Jazz go 5-6 they have to both go 8-4. If either of them finishes 6-6 then the Jazz would have to finish 3-7 to fall to the 7th seed.

No need to panic
Hell, we may even catch Houston. Keep the faith.

Everyone is assuming automatic wins if GSW and SA rest their starters. Does anyone remember how we **** our own pants last season and killed our playoff chances when we lost to the Clippers resting all of their starters and playing Jamal Crawford + 9 NBDL players to kick our *** on our on home floor? I still wouldn't consider a road game at SA an automatic win if their starters are resting...

OP has valid points but I'm not too worried. We should win 4 out of next 5.
And the rest mainly depends on GSW and SAS. Right now GB is 2.5 between them. If it's 4, i.e. the seeds are final, both SAS and GSW may rest their players in 3 remaining games vs UTA.

We could still lose against resting teams. We did last year, recall. May the rally churro forgive our sins and bring restitution.

I like the cut of your jib.

Heck, we're actually better even with a hobbled Favors than with Withey.

Any seeding is going to be a hard matchup. The only thing that really matters is homecourt. If they dont get homecourt then I really dont think it makes a difference. Facing Golden State in the first round might be a dream scenario if KD is out.

Clippers still have games against San Antonio, Houston(Clipps have yet to win against this year 0-2), Washington (who already beat them), 2 games against the Mavericks(6-4 last 10 and are 1-1 against the clippers) and the Jazz. Also every team in the NBA drops games they should not. Clippers have lost a bunch already of those types of games. I bet they go 6-5 to finish the season. My guess is OKC does about the same to finish they have some hard games as well. If Jazz can beat the Clippers then they will most likely get the 4th seed or at worst 5th. There is an outside chance they drop to 6th but that is very unlikely and there is no chance the Grizz pass up the Jazz unless the wheels really fall off. Jazz usually bounce back after a few rough games in a row. Jazz are tired and the injuries really wear out the team and frustrate the team.

We are getting every back and all we have to do is beat Knicks at home, New Orleans at home, Sacramento, Portland at least once out of the 2 times and Minny. Also one or both of GS and Spurs will sit their starters against us. Icing on the cake would be to beat the Clippers or win one or more of the other games. Keeping in mind that the Jazz so far this season have shown that when we really need to step up we do. Just like we did against the Clippers last time and against Houston.

Also we only have 1 more back to back and it is against Portland. 6 out of our last 11 are at home and all of those are on nights we will be rested for.

The only team below us playing better basketball right now is Portland and they are not catching us unless we lose out and they win out. So all this panic is unnecessary, most teams are worn out and dragging to the finish line for the grueling season. The Jazz will step up and win the games they need to.

I bet we win at least 7 of the last 11 games which will lock up the 4th seed.

...says the guy who's on record saying we basically have no chance of making noise in the playoffs, regardless of seeding. Cool story, though, brough

Check out what I have found on NBA TV.

I post, therefore I am.

I'm sure one of the denizens on this board will take some of that action. I have a feeling that the Jazz are going to cough up a hairball and lose homecourt advantage but I'm hoping they serve me a crow lasagna. I'd love to get learned.

I may be the only one but I don't care as much about home court advantage. I don't see it as a difference maker with this team other than it means we played good ball to finish the season. If we are 5th or 6th I think we can make it a series. My big concern is I think there is a legit chance we fall to 7t.. Anyway you spin the math we have a tough schedule left and we are not playing good basketball - at all.

I don't think we beat the Clippers with or without HC. Unless they sustain an injury.

I'd rather get Houston. Of course best scenario would be one of OKC or Memphis and we have HC. Of the more likely scenarios I like Houston the best. We have the best shot to beat them imo and it would be an EPIC Clutch Fans melt down.

If we're healthy, I don't really fear the Clips that much. Of the likely 1st-round opponents, I fear OKC and Memphis more.
