What's new

Noah Vonleh. Why???

He has range to the college 3 line on limited attempts. Lots of college PF's who have shown 3pt ability in college but never had it translate to the pros.

Derrick Williams being a recent example. IMO, if your big is going to be a 3pt shooter, he needs to be in the 35% range.

Granted I only watched a couple of his games. What I watched was a guy who was obviously the best player on the floor.
Very few guys that big can shoot. I think if Indiana had decent point play he would have much better numbers and more attempts from 3. His 3 point numbers are impressive but hard to guage.

As a prospect, I'll admit I've been wrong with the Bosh comparisons. I think he's more talented than Bosh. And no clown can lead the Big 10 in rebounding. That's pretty good.

However, I just don't like his lack of aggressiveness. To me, he's just too soft. A player with his size and athleticism should be killing people inside. Can that be changed with more experience and playing for a better team?

He really needs to develop the "nasty" element to his game. If he does, he could easily be an All-Star if his shooting is legit.

This.

Every player has at least 1 glaring weakness and this is Vonleh's weakness. He just doesn't seem to have #Hunger. Can he obtain it somehow? May be he needs to hike to the Tibetian Mountains to receive it from the Holy Monks. May be he's sitting eating Subway 1 day and suddenly realise he deserves better than that ****!!!!!

Once he gets that #Hunger, he's gonna be #Scary.

His stroke looks smooth. I'd say he's a pretty good long range bomber just from seeing his shooting stroke. It's quick and smooth.

That's what she said...

The Locke video is a pretty fair analysis if you want the quick and dirty. Watch Vonleh guard on the perimeter at the end, and how his hand size allows him to rip and control a rebound (not just tip it around). Things like that make or break you as a big in this league. Kanter couldn't do it, and why we were -2000 with him on the court.

Hmmm quick and dirty...

The problem with this is you have to hear Locke's voice.

But he did break it down real well. And has convinced me that if Vonleh is still on board that he very easily might be the BPA. He isn't as soft as I thought.

He also convinced me that Payne is going to be one of the biggest steals of this draft. 5 years from now we're all going to wonder how the hell he wasn't drafted in the lotto.

If we go small at 5... I really REALLY want us to somehow... Some way... Upgrade that 23 to get into the teens and draft Payne. At the very worst he's a guy that can come off the bench and spark a team, like a better shooting Taj Gibson.

Heck, even if we go big get him. Payne could start over Kanter right now.

Ppl who see Noah Vonleh as a top 5 pick and future all star, pls explain.

To me looks like a dude who is *probably* a starter in the NBA, but not much more.

Can't imagine passing up on someone with sky high potential like Aaron Gordon for someone as blah as Vonleh.

What am I missing Vonleh lovers??

Man. Another thread by mass poster asking same thing has been answered 100 time already. I swear this site is six dudes all get together to troll everyone with many many alts. Cyrone, UGLI, Franklin, PKM, Stoked all do nothing but trolling.

I read an article about him. His mother took him and the rest of the children to a weeks worth of Disneyland. She had to force him to go the first day, but she could not force him anymore and he spent the rest of the week in a local gym playing basketball. That is why he is good as he is at such a young age. He has the hunger inside him to be great and improve.

He is also the top rebounder among the top 100 players in this years draft, and played less than 27 minutes a game. I remember AK going an entire game without one lousy rebound. I remember stating even a statue holding a peach basket should get one rebound.

So let me summarize:

# Has back to the basket moves at a young age.

# Has a handle and can drive to the basket.

# Has a three point shot, so he can be a stretch four. Isn't that why Marvin was suppose to be getting so much playing time?

# The kid is a gym rat. These type of player rarely prove not to be the type not to improve.

# This young kid was the top rebounder of the top 100 players in the draft.

# The kid played in a major conference.

# The kid has hands bigger than Julius Erving!

# He can shoot free throws.

# He can hit hook shots with either hand.

# He can get up and down the floor better or just as good than most bigs.

# At this early age he is already a respected shot blocker.

# The kid may still be growing as he is so young and he already has a great wing span.

Hell guys with all that going for him he may end up being one of the best of the draft...just saying.

Ok, I'm in.

Noah Vonleh added to the list of people I'd be excited bout darfting...

Wuggins
Parker
Gordon
Exum
Embiid
Vonleh

#PushOver #FlipFlopper #FenceSitter

He's Derrick Favors' dimensions but a less explosive explosive athlete. A pretty smooth athlete, though. Has a decent jumper, the confidence to use it, and decent returns at a young age. He's stronger than Bosh in the lower body, I think he'll work more in the post, but still has plus mobility (especially for his size). He plays pretty dumb, but again, youth is a consideration here. I think there's a chance he figures it out.

I think he's intriguing. He's like the difference between Favors and Kanter in the broadest terms possible.

I could see him being the 5th best player in an exceptional draft, at worst probably, I guess?
