What's new

Not again

Just an update my wife's cancer is a stage 4. It is in the top of her stomach. It goes through the stomach wall into her lymph nodes.

She will have very agressive cancer but it doesn't look good. Prognosis for survival is less than 5%.

How frightening this must be for you both. Best wishes for the outcome for which you are hoping.

no decent human deserves to go through what you have gone through. I really don't know what else to say.

Please, please don't be shy to seek every support measure that you have at your disposal for both your wife and yourself. I'm not sure if you have any other children other than Jake..was his name? Jacob? I can't quite remember. Either way, take care of them.

Your predicament reminds me of Joe Biden-- his first wife and one of his children was killed in a vehicle accident around the time he was sworn into the senate.

He talks about it in this speech to veterans in this video link I've enclosed. The video is largely apolitical-- just encompasses the stages that he worked through as he fought his grief with his losses. I hope you get something out of watching it-- it's 20 minutes long

so very sorry to hear about your wife's cancer - hoping for the best for you and your family, with all you've been through with your son Jake and your wife's accident and now cancer, it's tough for everyone in the family

Sorry to hear that. I can't imagine going through losing a child or my wife, let alone potentially both. My heart goes out to you.

So sorry about this. Gotta hold on somehow. I had thought it must be a more operable and smaller cancer maybe stage I, with no lymph node involvement. I have not known the specifics of this type of case, I still hope and pray for your family.

You can do this again because she needs you to do it again. I am so sorry.

Cancer took my mother and then grandmother within 6 months of each other (the things they said on those drugs will be with me forever) right after my sister in law and aunt beat it. It is a hard, nasty thing but you need to stay strong for her. But it is not a lost cause. Cancer can be beaten. I am so sorry.

Leisa update: leisa has stage 4 cancer. It has spread from her stomch into the lymph nodes around the stomach to the lymph nodes in her neck. They also found cancer in the bone on her spine.

Tomorrow they will be putting a port in and on monday she will receive her first chemo. The chemo they will be using is called folfox.

They are concerned about the tumors on her spine because if they grow they could put pressure on her spine and cause immense amount of pain or even damage. So starting next week she will go through radiation therapy on her back. It is a 10 day process.

After that she will be going in every 2 weeks for chemo. This will be indefinitely. They can not remove it because it has already spread into her lymphatic system. All the chemo is for is to help alleviate pain and prolong her life.

The hardest part and the part we need to beat is the lingest anyone had lived with this type of cancer is 5 years. Most people live 1 to 2 years.

Please i ask for your faith and prayers for leisa and our children. It is going to be especially difficult for britton and mckenna after seeing their oldest brother battle it and die.

I'm really, really, sorry Croc.
You have mine and family's unending prayers.

Strength for you and your family.

This takes my breath away. I cannot imagine how terrifying this is for your family. No one should have to go through this. I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to help, but know that you have a community here who will listen. You are so brave and strong, even if you don't always feel that way.

Wishing your wife the best possible outcome, your children peace and knowing they are loved, and you all the support you need in this extremely difficult time.

So sorry to hear this. My prayers are with you and your family. Do your best to find the silver lining in each day. I know how hard it is to see the positives in this, but they are there. Your children will always remember the example you and your wife set in this fight. And they will always treasure the happy moments that you find a way to create along the way.
