Cody was an incomprehensible one-and-done pick. He didn't show any signs of having Top 10 NBA level talent or physical ability at Colorado. He has some length for his theoretical position, along with name recognition... and that's it.

He was probably picked mostly because his brother is a good player who was kind of a late bloomer. That's an insane gamble to me at #10. Maybe you can justify it when you're some dynasty team that doesn't have to hit on every pick, but the Jazz needed someone who was much farther along.

Right now the kid just isn't very good. It makes you wonder what was in the Jazz FO thought process when they jettisoned Kevin Knox II, Bazely, Kenny and Samanic. At least those guys could make baskets. And all were not ancient either.

No, but the eye test shows he's off balance on a lot of his misses.

I don't like Walker's free throws shooting form. He seems very stiff and it looks like he only uses his upper body, mostly arms. It's one of the most important things for him to improve yet it doesn't seem like it's going to get better with this kind of mechanics.

It's very early, but FT% stabilizes very quickly and Walker shot well at the end of last season. If he's even just a 60% FT shooter, that's good offense. The next step for him would be to understand that it's good offense, not be afraid, and seek out more contact/FT's. I think a lot of his "issues" around the basket stem from being afraid to shoot FT's.

Worst team we’ve ever trotted out as I said before. When we signed an over the hill Paddy Mills to mentor our kiddy brigade, the writing was on the wall - TANK!

All this group whining about how Cody is inefficient and other criticism of the rookie in his very first NBA minutes is especially funny when the vets Sexton, Mills and Clarkson are shooting 3s in teens/low twenties and our designated star Lauri leads the team with 18 PPG at 38% FG. The entire team plays like garbage and those guys played hundreds times more NBA minutes than Cody. But yeah, lets lay into Cody Williams, the only disappointing player on the illustrious 2024 Utah Jazz.
