They put out a video on this last season. Often the player catches the ball in motion and the rule allows him to place both feet in place, then establish a pivot or dribble or whatever. If he stays in motion he can place both feet down, then take 2 steps. That's what gobert did on that play. He caught the ball in motion, placed both feet then took 2 steps, but because of the timing of the sequence it looks like he took a lot of steps. But once he had the ball it was just 2.You're right, he took the first two steps just before he caught the ball.
