What's new

Game Thread Nov 11, 2021 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Pacers

Added to Calendar: 11-11-21

Man, this team looks absolutely awful. Who knew we’d miss the minivan this much…
Give Favors credit where it is due. He rebounded our million misses and recycled them to make us look better. For those who were so focused on his lack of mobility, sub-par defensive play, etc... he rebounded a ton of missed layups that often turned in to fast breaks. It helped us win.

We should have put Forrest on McConnell.

And Bogie should have shot the 3 ball more.

Why Bogie shoot more? He was 3-9 and is 32% from 3 this year. He brings nothing else to the table but turnovers if he isn’t shooting well. And he isn’t shooting well. Might as well give Paschall the minutes. At least he provides something more than sub average shooting.

He did get a lot of putbacks for us, and perhaps they were more timely to stand out, but Favors’ offensive rebounding percentage last year was 14.7%, while this year Whiteside’s is 16%.

At least Spida and JIngles had Rudy's back.
This. At least a good thing out of a terrible night of basketball. Luckly Joe and Donovan ran and intervened, otherwise Rudy would have killed Turner with his weird, but deadly French Judo.

Even the scuffle itself was totally out of frustration that things were not working at all. Sometimes when ball won't fall and things aren't going our way it's too frustating and there are 3 ways of reacting. First and best one - timeout, evaluate what is wrong, adjust(whatever it is that is not working, it's adjustable). Sencond and most common one - be angry, complain, blame others (what we do most of the time, complain with and about Refs) Third and the wrost of them - do nothing, literally the loser mentality, it's not working but we're doing our best so whetever. Hopefully we don't fall in #3 with our 3 ball.

The officiating was total *** last night. Turner about took off Gobert's head and no call, then Turner initiated the contact going back up court. The officials probably had money on the Pacers. Some of the worst I have seen all season.

And our guys letting themselves get caught up in it was terrible. Stop whining and get back up court. We are starting to get that victim mentality, and that means we will start every game with a losing mind-set. Just a load of **** right now.

One challenge the roster faces is the lack of swiss army knives. We have too many players whose skillsets are limited, and when their one skillset is sucking it exacerbates their weaknesses.

Royce is a "dEfEnSiVe SpEcIaLiSt" wing who cannot dribble. He's a worse version of Tony Allen. When he's getting cooked, he's worthless on the court.
Bogey is a great scorer but is absolutely trash on defense.
JC is a volume shooter so when he's off it's bad

I know people say we have a ton of depth... but do we really? We lack versatility when things go south.

This. Bogey’s biggest strength as a player is his 3 ball. If you take that away, he's just a fairly average scorer with mediocre production/efficiency and nothing else to show for it, which has been the case so far this season.

Here is my $0.25 opinion on last night. The Pacers jumped out to a comfortable lead and the Jazz never made them sweat. The regular rotation wasn't getting it done. Why didn't Quin give the scrubs some run? It couldn't have gotten worse. In addition to poor shooting, the Jazz got out rebounded a ton. Now the refs totally blew the Gobert-Turner foul call. Turner went over his back, made contact and in doing so smacked Rudy in the head. I thought concussions are supposed to be a big deal. The league won't say a thing about it. They reward incompetence among the refs. Even if they called a foul on Turner, the Jazz were not coming back.

Love this crap about bojan to really. He is average 1.3 per game which is hmm bad? Hes not shooting threes but he is on near 17 ppg with4.5 boards an 2 asist. DM and jc taking over 21 3 point attempts per game and one is on 30% and other on 21.Rudy is not offensive player and Royce is not aswell so.. Best move woud be trade bojan for one more Royce i guess and maybe we can keep teams under 60 points so we can winn when we get 65...

Love how you trying to make it a JC/DM problem when Bogey's always been part of the problem.

Bogey's currently shooting 31% on 5 attempts. He makes 1.3 shots of those 5 tries but shooting 5 3's per game is a lot of shots no matter how you look at it.

He's currently shooting more 3's than the likes of Kevin Durant, Ja Morant, Gordon Haywood, KCP, Doug Mcdermott, Cam Johnson, Joker, Landry Shamet, Mikal Bridges, Eric Gordon, OPJ. Guys that are either the center of their offense or the three point specialist on the team.

AND Bogey's shooting at a worse % than all of them.

The fact that DM/JC's had their own shooting woes doesn't make Boegy innocent.

We are talking about different things here. Bojan slump hurting team way less than jc one and post was about ppl crying about defense and atm bigger problem is we can't score .So i was ironic abot trading offensive player for 1 more 6-7 ppg guy...

For those that didn't hear Rudy's post-game interview, this is what I got out of it.

The reason Rudy wrapped Turner up was so that Turner couldn't do anything else. He said that he will not fight on the basketball court because it would hurt his team. He also said that sending 20 security guards out only makes the situation worse because no one is likely going to be throwing punches. I tend to agree with him. The reaction is way worse than the cause. Probably why Donovan got so heated as he was getting banged about by a lot of people unnecessarily. Joe as well.

So he said that he won't fight on the basketball court, but he is easy to reach if someone wants to fight outside the court. He mentioned his boxing coach was in the audience for the first time in a long time, so he thought the coincidence funny.

He agreed that his pulling Turner when Rudy fell deserved a technical. He laughed when asked what he thought about Joe and Donovan being ejected. He said he didn't understand it until he saw the tape. Laughed again.

He shoots 35% from three at home and 46% from the field. Only Ingles and Conley are better from three.

He’s spot on about security being out there. They’re there to handle the crowd and need to stay out of on-court issues

you mean one 6-7ppg guy who score on much better efficiency and bring other things onto the table?

We can score, alright?Just like Westbrick can score 19ppg even though it takes him 18 shots to get there. Let DM/JC/Bogey fire 60 shots a game we'll crack 100 easily, if we aren't down by 20 at that point.

You think it was just a coincidence that we relied on Rudy, aka "the non-offensive player", to score 10 points in a row while leaving Bogey on the bench last night? What we need is efficient scoring, not just scoring.

Scoring 16ppg on 42%/31% from deep is not better than 6-7ppg on 50% efficiency while adding 6-7 boards and 1-2 steals + blocks.

Would you rate Bogey over Royce? I'm sure some of the guys here won't even put him over Paschall at this point.
