Oakley arrested for attacking Dolan

Stifle Tower

Punch Bowl Re-Filler
The Knicks' dysfunction continues.

Charles Oakley got into a shouting match with Dolan behind the bench. Pushing, shoving and obvious profanities ensued. Oakley was then escorted out and reportedly arrested.

I have yet to see a report of any altercation between Dolan and Oakley.

Dolan says he was talking crap about him a few rows back. Oakley denies this, he says they didn't talk at all.

Dolan told security to remove him and Oakley fought them.

heard oakley talked about knicks' dysfunctional organization issue (which is 100% true). the owner and the organization are butthurt about it lmao

Worst owner in sports. he loves this story im sure. got to mark his territory for all eyes to see. Dolan is far and away the paramount reason why I stopped rooting for the Knicks.

I loved Charles Oakley back in the day, as a youngster watching him and Ewing (and ofc the chairman of the boards Dennis Rodman) I learned the importance of rebounding, all real knicks fans love Oakley. I vehemently side with him in this altercation. No doubt this stems from Oak voicing his displeasure about the team, criticism which most likely are quite valid(especially if they were in the realm of the team being soft -- which Oak would be a qualified expert on), got on Dolans nerves security shows up and then the rest is history.

Oakley obviously shouldn't have pushed the security dudes but that was the reaction of a prideful man who's getting screwed. LeBron, CP3 and DWade have all shown their support since.

I was actually considering rooting for the Nix again seeing as they appear to be headed in the direction of gutting the team of vets (obviously not Joakim 'The new Asik' Noah) they've got the goose that lays golden eggs in Porz, and most importantly they have all their 1st rd picks so there's a great deal of mystery.. Not after this though, I simply despise Dolan.

Dolan blows but it's much more than you're stating. The two have never gotten along and Oakley was butthurt that he wasn't one of the ex-Knicks invited to a 70th anniversary to-do they had recently amongst other things. He was in the building all of four minutes tmk and this began. Dude was clearly looking for a fight and showed zero class in the way he pushed multiple security guards in the face and chest before being physically escorted out like a little kid who couldn't handle not getting his way. I love Oak and hate Dolan but rationalizing this as if it's okay and Dolan's fault is a ******** move and weak sauce. Oakley acted like an ******* and now needs to deal with the legal and monetary consequences that come with that.

James Dolan is a ****ing parasite in control of a regional monopoly, thats simply too big to fail and he's flaunting it, most of the very well-informed, loyal fanbase is voicing its displeasure in many different ways.

The Knicks can lose, their fanbase can lose, their players and staff can lose. James Dolan can't lose, and flaunts it. It's that simple, he didn't even put himself in that position - his father did. It's inevitable the Knicks will rise again, when they do he'll quickly increase ticket prices, merchandise will fly off the shelves, they'll paint the best player as mother teresa and the coach as einstein. Fans will quickly say "I waited my whole life for this" or since the 90's and pony up the $$$

The blunders of the Knicks often trickle down from Dolan, it's not an excuse, it's the truth, for a wide variety of reasons --- a key one of course being he's got final say on hirings and consistently they 1) get the wrong guy 2) overpay for his services/fire him early 3) look for someone even more expensive to pay...

He's absolved by many because he signs the checks but anyone with real business acumen knows; 1) the ability to adapt is of the utmost importance, there is very little evidence of this positive adaption with the Knicks in the 2000's, infact quite obviously it's been a long period of stagnation, and NOT learning from mistakes, which is actually hard to do in the NBA, you've got to go out of your way, far beyond the call of duty to achieve it.. They've basically just been trying to keep their heads above water since JVG left...

2) throwing more and more $$$ like bandaids at cyclical systemic issues instead of practicing discipline and patience to find long-term solutions in a low-risk manner. Their operation is terribly and obviously unsound, they still haven't figured this overpaid vets thing out, greenlighting that Noah deal. What a cherry on top of the Jackson era he is, the next Omer Asik.

3)In some twisted type of way he sees the value in losing. He's a dude who owned cablevision, he probably knows the value of an underdog story that he's IMO help fabricate thru his negative influence on the franchise.

What star free agent is ever going to sign with the Knicks now? Good lord it takes a real idiot to make the basketball mecca an undesirable FA location.

yeah, they really need to clean house (i.e. burn it down). Can't wait for Jackson's departure. I'm sure he'll tweet about it from LA.

That's the icing on the cake for me. It tarnishes Jackson legacy and I've always been a Jackson hater.

This has absolutely nothing to do with what happened last night. Oakley physically assaulted male adults and now needs to face the consequences. End of story.

Both characters seem like idiots (par for the NYK course). Oakley shouldn't get any sympathy for saying 'he won't even shake my hand!! Wah wah wah' James Dolan is probabaly scared to get close to a large, black dude that hates him and just shoved some people in MSG. I think it's pretty reasonable for Dolan to avoid personal interaction with Oakley. It's also reasonable for Oakley to call out the Knicks and Dolan for being awful.
