What's new

October 20th - L.A. Clippers versus UTAH JAZZ (at 7:00 PM)

OK guys, after this many preseason games what are your thoughts on the roster changes for this year?

Strengths? Weaknesses? Any changed perceptions from when you heard about the changes and now?

I have like Mo and wet bandit alot.

Foye not so much..... obviously have been impressed with enes

Really like the up tempo style alot too!

Darnell jackson ejected. Looked like somebody kept poking at the ball while the jazz were just letting the clock run out.

I like seeing 8 rebounds by burks and 8 by wet bandit. Liked the 8 assist by mo as well.

I'm sick of Quinn and Jackson even if it is a few minutes since Corbin played the "starters" more tonight. I want Favors to start if only for his D. Let Paul play with the second unit and be the focus of the offense with Kanter. Both of them can shoot as well.

The real question is whether the play of tonight's game that will be on tomorrow morning at around 8:30 will be blacked out. I have it set to record just in case.

Stoke,

I am concern about our PG position. Foye is not a PG and Mo is more of a backup. Mo is fine until he gets in the half court offense. Then he does his Howard Eisley impression. Marvin is the biggest surprise. I really like what he has done. I think he is our answer at SF. Kanter has definitely gotten better. Favors has been a big disappointment for me. He is SO raw on the offensive end that I don't know how he starts. I would start Kanter over him but then AJ and Kanter are not our best defensive team. Hayward is still inconsistent. Burks needs to play more but he still struggles defensively.

Well, Mo Williams has to start at PG. I hope he's been playing at half speed so far.
Hayward seems to be the starting SG.
Marvin Williams is our best SF. His shooting helps compensate for Hayward who still seems inconsistent.
Favors hasn't won a starting job yet, but Millsap has only been slightly better.
I guess Jefferson starts at center for now.

I'd like to see Burks and Kanter be the first off the bench along with Favors.
I'm not sure what Foye is supposed to be -- a scoring combo or a PG -- he's not really doing either right now.
The 2nd unit should play almost the same minutes as the starters.

Kanter could also conceivably start at PF, but it would probably piss off Favors.

Burks with 10 pts and 8 rebs under what can only be called adverse conditions. He also played decent defense on Jamal Crawford. He played as well as Hayward did, imo.

Good post.

I wouldnt be against starting Favors though, even if he is raw offensively still. He for sure is our best rim protector. There is a big need for that, and its definitely what we need to compensate for what Al lacks.

The Jazz have good players and good depth at every position except PG, but no one is really stellar.

Rajon Rondo would look really good on this Jazz team.

Mo Williams with 8 assists.

Kanter with a nice face up jumper, which he should have all day. If he really gets good at this shot, he could be absolutely deadly.

2 blocks and 2 assists for Kanter, and he should have had more assists (missed shots).

Favors struggling with his shot again. If DeAndre Jordan can develop a touch around the hoop, Favors can. No more excuses for him!

Burks started to look really good, and our wings did very well although Barnes had 22.

My starters/reserves:
PG: Mo, Tinsley/Watson
SG: Hayward, Burks
SF: Marvin, Carroll (but limited; I'd rather have Hayward play these minutes and let Burks play more)
PF: Favors, Millsap (Millsap and Al cannot be a good defensive tandem)
C: Al, Kanter

I do not like Foye! Horrible PG and a chucker!

Even though Favors struggled offensively, he still goes to the boards harder than Jefferson and affects a lot of plays defensively.

The fact that the Jazz don't have a great playmaking PG is putting Hayward on the floor for a few more minutes than he deserves. Picture a guy like Rondo in the backcourt along with Burks. That would be fantastic. But the Jazz have to play Hayward because he has some playmaking ability.
