Did Sexton get traded or something? You're likely kidding here, but in all seriousness Kenny Lofton might be the Jazz's most bankable isolation scorer right now.

You sure? I don't think even Jom would approve this... The Conley dead was fine...

Last 5 years huh? 4 years ago they made it to the 2nd round of the playoffsThis is the requisite statement from every Jazz offseason in the last 5 years, with the Jazz predictably surprising first with first-round exits and, lately, with finishing deep in the lottery (but not deep enough to draft anyone meaningful).

Great post. Agreed on all of this.I am excited for Lofton next year tho, but I'm holding off on hyperbole until he can prove he can be a player who plays well in a winning context.
Also fairly excited for Juzang and Bazley. Juzang played really well post ASB last year. He's only 23 (turns 24 next March) so he's still younger than some 5th year draft prospects this year. Bazley impressed me with his defense last year, maybe the offense will finally click at some point.
Summer League should be a blast this year. The team is going to be absolutely loaded. Easy to see why the Jazz have said publicly they arent looking to draft 3 players. Our 2-way/end of bench younger prospects still have a decent amount of potential and need developing.
I think Ainge/Zanik value having a shooter at the 5 spot.A Porzingis/Lauri front-court would have been fascinating.
I think thinking high end players will flock to come to the Jazz if we had better roster is delusional. Stockton and Malone had trouble attracting high end players to join them. Rudy and Mitchell got us... Bojan... and a snub from freaking Nikola Mirotic. I think at this point we have to just assume no top tier player will want to come to Utah if he had any semblance of a choice. Doesn't mean you give up on trying to get them... but you definitely don't make decisions with the expectations that you will get anyone better than Bojan types. I.e. you don't get Ingram and Trae Young, expecting that in a year or two you will get ... I don't know... pick your choice of a player who you think would get us over the hump in FA(Tatum, Brown, Jamal Murray, Booker, etc)... Every single year there will be multiple teams that would be way ahead the Jazz on the totem pole of FA destinations, whether we have a good roster or not. This paragraph particularly resonated with me because I agree with you where as others think we should do whatever possible to find the #1 guy first and we can’t build a decent roster in the meantime.
My argument has always been guys would be more willing to come here the more talent that was in place. HH argued that trading for someone like Brandon Ingram wouldn’t move the needle for someone like Giannis (hypothetically) but I think he absolutely would. I would love to hear others thoughts on this.
Well, that’s different than what I said and asked though.I think thinking high end players will flock to come to the Jazz if we had better roster is delusional. A bit disingenuous when he snubbed the entire NBA to go to Europe.and a snub from freaking Nikola Mirotic.

This is the specific part I was responding to. Giannis is not coming to Utah because we have Brandon Ingram(i.e. because we have a 45 win team vs having a 25 win team). At least not on his own volition. Ingram is not moving the needle with any type of significance. The difference might be something like... 0.0001% vs 0.001%. You can say it's 10 times more likely but this doesn't tell you how likely it is. If you want to get a player of the caliber of Giannis you have to either trade for him or draft him.HH argued that trading for someone like Brandon Ingram wouldn’t move the needle for someone like Giannis (hypothetically) but I think he absolutely would. Oh come on... we gave him the best offer. He snubbed us for Europe.A bit disingenuous when he snubbed the entire NBA to go to Europe.
If we’re trading for Giannis and it’s a done deal do you think he would rather play with Brandon Ingram and Lauri Markkanen or just Lauri Markkanen? This is the specific part I was responding to. The right question is... if we trade for Giannis, would he rather play with Lauri Markkanen and Brandon Ingram or would he rather us have the assets we would spend for Ingram to trade for another player that best fits with Giannis and Lauri? If we’re trading for Giannis and it’s a done deal do you think he would rather play with Brandon Ingram and Lauri Markkanen or just Lauri Markkanen?
