Official 2012 Presidential Election: Obama vs Romney

As I am not US citizen, and never been to USA, my oppinions are very important for you, I know. (sarcasm, I am truly shocked many in this board do not understand sarcasm in many of my posts)

Let me explain the presidental election from the eyes of an alien: It's just a show and it's nothing to do with the political view or the president. The USA have a unchangable long term poltical plans especially for the international politics arena. Bureaucracy and officers govern the USA, not the Senate or the President.

For me, the only truth is the Great Middle East Project of the US, and the effects of this **** to my country and people around our neighbors. Many are dying for no reason. My country has been drifting into a model which US dictates, and is changing our life style from a modern, western way to modified version of Eastern Islamic way, called "Mild Islam" to show other Muslim countries that such governmental style is possible. And this methamorphosis of my country is killing me.

I believe USA is pure evil, because it changes my way of life, for its own benefit.

EDIT: I've just read an article which reads: "Romney said: If Israel attacks Iran, I do respect this decision" So in this case, I prefer Obama. Would you want a war at your doorstep?

So, a couple questions;

1) How does the U.S. dictate that your country behave in a 'mild islamic' way vs. a modern western? (by the way, if you like modern westerns, check out Cowboys and Aliens)
2) How does the U.S. benefit from the above?
3) How does Romney saying he wouldn't blame Israel attacking Iran make the U.S. to blame for the attack?

Who cares if he annoys them? I'd rather he speak his mind than tiptoe around the subject. And what he said was not that bad.

It's called diplomacy.

You don't build bridges with the Brits by doing what he did.

Even fellow repubs/conservative commentators think Romney's words were dumb.

https://www.cafemom.com/group/11589...mpics_Gaffe_Was_Unbelievable_Incomprehensible

On Thursday's "Special Report," Krauthammer launched into a rant about Romney's Olympics comment. "It's unbelievable, it's beyond human understanding, it's incomprehensible. I'm out of adjectives," he lamented.

He said the purpose of Romney's trip was merely to express solidarity with America's British allies, and say nice things about his foreign hosts.

"All Romney has to do, say nothing," Krauthammer said. "It's like a guy in the 100-meter dash. All he has to do is to finish, he doen't have to win. And instead, he tackles the guy in the lane next to him and ends up disqualified. I don't get it."

The other panelists suggested that Romney was speaking from his own experience organizing the Salt Lake City Olympics, but agreed that the candidate lost an easy opportunity to cozy up to the Brits.

Truly a sign of what our society has come to. We'd much rather the person tell us what we want to hear, rather than hear the truth.

What part of politics do you not understand? Oh yeah, all of it.

Society has always been like this. Especially in the realm of diplomacy and politics.

Maybe you just missed out on some of jazzyapma's sarcasm?

There is a coma between "modern" and "western" words which indicates that it's not a noun phrase. For years, US governments provide intelligence and financial support to Islamic Belief based Party and strenghten their hand with improving the education organization with the help of religious leader (the one who lives in Pensilvania after being exiled from Turkey) of their choosing, changing the very core of our democracy and rightous beliefs seeded by Ataturk after our Rupublic was founded in 1923. The educational organization is a missionary which operates in many Asian and African countries. Now many of Turkish citizens vote for "AKP" just for financial reasons. That all started when US has choosen Erdogan for this mission.

2) How does the U.S. benefit from the above?

Simply having absolute control over the Middle East.

3) How does Romney saying he wouldn't blame Israel attacking Iran make the U.S. to blame for the attack?

As you can see, support is a support. It simply means, if something unexpected (expected actually) happens, I will be there to cover your back.
Probably you don't have any idea what I am saying about Turkish politics, or the US governments games over the Middle East. I hope you might read some books, or visit Turkey sometime to see what is really going on.

Everyone shhh...

One of the biggest tools on the board is going to explain how things really work.

There are so many things I don't understand, I will never have time to catch up on them all.

However, I do thank you for that insight into our actions in Turkey.

It all started with Marshall Aid program in late 40's... Ok, ok... I'll shut up.

There used to be a time when it was otherwise?

Perhaps not, but maybe it's just our current society's need to digest/analyze everything as they occur that makes us more prone to overreacting to stupid things like Romney's London Olympics comments. Back in the day his comments may still not have sat well with some (as you're probably right, that no one likes to hear what they don't want to hear), but I don't think there would have been the instant uproar to his comments.

I agree. The 24-hour-news cycle acts like a moving microscope, magnifying a very limited field and then leaving it far behind.

Do you really believe that this exact same comment said by a similar person for a similar circumstance in the 60s or 70s wouldn't have provoked outrage? Anytime an "outsider" says something critical about your country you're going to face an outraged society.

Just look at the response that G. Green got when he wrote, "The Quiet American."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Quiet_American

After its publication in the U.S. in 1956, the novel was widely condemned as anti-American. It was criticized by The New Yorker for portraying Americans as murderers, largely based on one scene in which a bomb explodes in a crowd of people. According to critic Philip Stratford, “American readers were incensed, perhaps not so much because of the biased portrait of obtuse and destructive American innocence and idealism in Alden Pyle, but because in this case it was drawn with such acid pleasure by a middle-class English snob like Thomas Fowler whom they were all too ready to identify with Greene himself”.[5] However, it was popular in England and over the years has achieved notable status, being adapted into films in 1958 and most recently in 2002 by Miramax, starring Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser and earning the former a Best Actor nomination.

Anyone who has read this book can see how perfectly Alden Pyle fits the stereotypical American and is a PERFECT symbol of American foreign policy from the post WWII era to today. Green nailed us. Yet we got pissed because it was an "outsider" who nailed us. Damn those cynical brits!

Personally, I know Romney was telling the truth. The Brits really screwed the pooch on this. They were supposed to have something like 40 peeps show up for security detail. 2 showed up? 1 of them was high? LOL. wow....

Yet, you wouldn't say that to their faces. Just like Mitt wouldn't say Brazilians are amazing because of their awesome butts, most S. American countries are jokes, French are ugly and stink, and Euros in general have never heard of toothbrushes or braces, the leadership in Afghanistan/Iraq is a joke etc.

I doubt this incident irritates any Americans. However, it's the outrage that our media is covering. And it raises questions as the the ability Romney has in diplomacy. You have to kiss butt in today's world.

I get why people were upset with Romney, but from the reactions people were having (mostly from the media), you'd think he declared war on GB.

The USA itself is not evil. It is the people running it that you should have issues with. For what it's worth the current admin is changing my life for it's own benefit and I'm not happy about it either.
