Gordon will never be Blake, and Blake will never be Gordon. They are COMPLETELY different players. I guess because they are around the same height and jump really high everyone wanted to make comparisons. You draft Vonleh if your looking for a 4, you draft Gordon if you are looking for a 3.

I agree

Gordon is a SF who can't score.
Untrue..... he doesnt score in the traditional ways that a traditional small forward scores

Starting to seem pretty clear that top four are Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, Exum.

I think this has been clear for like 6 months or so

It's silly to compare Exum to Kobe. My expectation is that his role is like the young Shaun Livingston's, but he has some of Leandro Barbosa's quickness. He's a combo guard, not a pure SG, and he's not an above-the-rim player.

I think Exum and Vonleh will be neck and neck on draft boards.

If Vonleh looks like a taller, longer version of Kawhi Leonard, I could see Dennis Lindsey falling in love with him.

Penny hardaway is exums best ceiling comp imo

OK You may be right there.
I think I meant he can't shoot.
It seems like a SF has to be able to shoot.
So can he be an effective SF without a shooters touch?

Gordon shot 36% from three this year, Hayward shot 37% from three in his career at Butler. A. Gordon's form isn't bad at all, definitely not too worried at all.

Your right.
I think it will be almost impossible for anybody to pry one of those picks away from the current four teams.
The top four players workouts etc are making them look untouchable.

This is a good question and i dont have the answer.

He is a risky pick but the one i would choose for many reasons

There are some who still think one of those four could fall to #5 for Jazz.

It would hardly be unprecedented. Both nbadraft.net and draftxpress have their mocks back from 2008 on (and older, but I thought that was a good enough recent stopping point). I know that they aren't the end and be all of expert opinion, but in the case of nbadraft.net they nailed the top 4 once in the past 6 years (not in the precise order, just all four players they had in their mock in the top 4 went in the top 4). DraftXpress has a much better record with 3 of the top 6, though the past 3 they haven't quite got it right. Both haven't been really far off when it comes to the top 6 or so.

The larger point is that someone dropping isn't really unprecedented in the NBA, at least by a spot or two. Since the Jazz have the 5th pick that becomes significant.

FWIW, draftxpress has the Jazz taking Smart right now, and both mocks have the top 4 with Parker/Wiggins/Embid/Exum.

yea i remember( last year? year before?) that all the mocks had ben macklemore going 1 or 2 all the way to draft night nd he slipped to 5th... not that he is lighting it up or anything... and the same with noel... so who knows?

Weak draft<Strong draft.

Can't really compare them.

Exactly.
There are always a few who move up due to workouts and a few who drop. IMO, Vonleh is the most likely to move up; he has a great NBA body for his position and is seen as someone who should be effective on both ends of the court.

Any one of the "consensus" top-4 could drop for a variety of reasons, although I think there's not much Wiggins could do to hurt his stock. He's ranked as high as he is partly based on his potential. Even a less-than-impressive workout will be discounted against his athleticism and perceived ceiling. On the other hand, Parker is supposedly "NBA-ready" and scouts are trying to pick his game apart (weight, lateral quickness, etc.). Everything comes down to the medical evaluation with Embiid. And Exum is a mystery until GM's can see him in individual workouts.

Posting in thread. I have no idea. I just hope the guy plays well and has some intensity.
