I don't see how anyone wouldn't fly this plane. The engine sucks, cuts out a lot and is hard to start, but the wings are so good they almost make up for it.
The QB is key. And if BYU doesn't have to cover beyond 15 yards, even their secondary is gonna shine.
Lets not make it out to be more than it is. Wynn sucks, but he can throw the ball 15 yards. BYU still has to cover it. Like I said, Wynn sucks, but the receivers are almost good enough to make up for it. Wynn will loft a high floating, slow to arrive, totally inaccurate pass 25 yards down the field, and the athletic and fast receivers will get to it.
Wynn is pretty important, no doubt. But he is not as important as a plane engine, that is a bad analogy. A plane isn't going anywhere without an engine. A better analogy is your For Bronco with a 351 has a bigger, more powerful engine than my Mustang. But my transmission is geared for speed, and body is lighter, among other things, that make my Mustang a lot faster than your Bronco.
The Utes still have a pretty decent running game and some awesome receivers that make even a crappy QB like Wynn put up some decent numbers against a very good USC defense. We all know Wynn looked a whole lot worse than his numbers would indicate in that game. So the receivers must be making him look better than he really is. Really though, if you have seen the Utes play then you already know the receivers are top notch but the QB is horrible.
Plus, like I said, Jake Heaps hasn't exactly been all world either. He's been better than Wynn, no doubt, but he doesn't have receivers that are even close to the caliber of receivers the Utes have. And the Utes defense is better than BYU's, so that will make it even harder for Heaps.
I can't see how anyone disagrees with any of this. But I am open to take anyone's money who wants to disagree with their wallet.
