I think I bet catratcho. How much are we betting? No line right, just winner takes it?
That's the way I remember it. If the Cougs win, we bet a grand. If the Utes win, we bet five bucks. But I think it was 25.

And what about Trout? Are we betting this year, and if so how much? Same terms as catratcho?
Unless you have another way of getting a hold of him, I'd think you're not betting this year, since he picked a horrible time to get his *** suspended again.

Tomorrow is the big day folks. I know smack talk is down this year. It's hard to be too geeked about this game when the Utes just played their first ever PAC 12 game (first PAC 12 game in history for anyone actually) at USC last week, and lost on the last play of the game. But it's still a pretty big game and I can't wait to watch it!
It just doesn't feel right to have the rivalry week right now. It needs to be either opening game or last game to have the same feel.

I don't live in Utah, so I don't have their lame sports media trying to hype me about "rivalry week". So I was browsing the list of televised games to watch for tomorrow and saw the listing for Utah @ BYU. Oh yeah, they play tomorrow, lol! Yeah, "rivalry week" lol.

I have the odd feeling that this game is going to be a snore fest for offenses with a ton of punts, incomplete passes, and runs stuffed at the line of scrimmage.

Perhaps the last few minutes will heat up (they usually do). But the first 3 quarters might be boring...

Don't get me wrong, the game will be very competitive. But I think it will probably be a miracle if either team scores more than 17 points.

Today on the radio they were talking about if this game ends up 3-0 like a few years back... LOL...

I think if Heaps can complete 4 or 5 down the middle of the field throws BYU should win. If heaps can't throw the ball I predict both teams barely score on offense.

I think the trash talking is down mostly because:

1. The season has just started.
2. Utah can still go to the Rose Bowl even if they lose this one.
3. Both offenses have sucked this year. No one honestly believes that their team is going to do much offensively.
4. And neither QB... Neither team even, has a villain (yet). Wynn is playing with one arm, hard to make fun of him for that (although his hair is stupid). Heaps hasn't said or done anything to irritate Utes. There aren't any receivers talking about living better than the other team. No red headed obnoxious offensive linemen running their mouths...

What this rivalry needs right now is a loudmouth player to get the emotions going. Can't Jacobson or Wynn say something? Someone needs to dump some Caffeine free diet coke or jello on Wynn's family.

Will someone just pour a beer on some cougar's mom already for the love of the rivalry?!?!?!

tell me those faces are photo shopped, horror movie esque...

i know in the grand scheme of things this game probably won't mean much but when it finally starts(late late start) it will have that big game feeling like they always do. your competitive juices start flowing and you want to win this game badly. in that sense it is important for the utes to win a big game on the road to get some confidence back.

defense and special teams huge as i doubt either team will come out firing on all cylinders, will probably be like a 10-7 game at halftime

I expect a close game. Who wouldn't with a rivalry that has gone 11-11 in the last 22 years. I could see this one coming down to the very end. I'll take Utah to win this one 21-17

This used to be the best game of the year.

Now I'm apathetic about it. I was more excited for the USC game.

I think the heat of this rivalry is definitely affected by the changes this year.

I've been reading that there are still tickets available for this game! That's unbelievable. Seems the folks in Provo know whats coming and aren't too excited to go see it happen in person.......

Well obviously it kind of reflects poorly on both schools, since Utah fans should be wanting to scrape up all the extra tickets they can get, no?

The reality is BYU went with a business decision on this game and threw in some pricing gimmicks where this game is 3X or more the cost of every other home game this year, so that's the main driver. It would be like asking somebody to go fill up their gas tank at $12/gallon tomorrow or something. Or just look at what's happened to Netflix since they've raised their prices. There is a breaking point for everything. Granted in the scheme of college athletics as a whole these days the tickets are probably still reasonably priced, but I'm not surprised some people are balking. It's weird to see that $$$ amount when you're used to something else.

When Utah wins this game tonight, it will be the 7th time in the last 10 years that Utah won this rivalry game. At what point is it too one sided to be called a rivalry?

Don't worry, I'll be back tonight or tomorrow with my yearly, "Utah is never going to win another rivalry game in my lifetime." prediction after BYU wins.
