What role do you see him playing in the NBA? Is he a point guard or a shoot first combo guard? And if he's a combo, doesn't Burks already fill that role for us?

the reason I like McCollum at a pg for the jazz because he does have a decent handle and burks and Hayward are good enough passers that McCollum can be a scoring guard

First of all, he's more of a PG than Burks, imo. His IQ is very high and makes key plays.
Not to mention, that even if the above were untrue.. it would be nice having a 40%+ shooter initiating the offense.. nawtimean?

Also, all of these posts about Schroder (and how he's better at like everything) need to be tempered by no one REALLY knows. I was one of the first to be wowed by his Nike performance, but I also stated, at that time, that I am CAUTIOUSLY optimistic.. these absolutes are hilarious.

I still have McCollum over Schroder.. but I admit it's a safer pick and I could totally get behind going upside over steady.

You are right we really don't have the full story on Dennis. We have an early crush, but we haven't lived with each other yet.
There are also question marks about Dennis's character. He seems to have a temper, and had a recent run in with his German coach.

The reason why I'm crushing hard on Dennis say over over McCollum is the he looks like a true 1.
I want a floor general who is confident, and plays good defense. It looks like Dennis might be that guy.
Having another Mo Williams type guy. A 2 stuck in a 1's body isn't quite as appealing.

Good post. The only reason I'm not crushing harder is I have so little to go on.. LOVED the Hoops summit Schroder.
 
This whole 2 guard stuck in a PG's body is overstated IMO. Russell Westbrook is a SG stuck in a PG's body, so is Derrick Rose. What makes a difference is coaching and the style of offense you run. On today's NBA, a PG needs to be able to shoot/score to run an effective offense. We shouldn't be discrediting a player just because they're a "2 stuck in a 1's body". Get buckets, pass to the open man, and play defense. That's all I want from a PG, he doesn't have to get 8-10 assists to be effective. I'd rather have 3 guys that are capable of 3-5 assists personally.

you are correct about westbrook, his plan is just to play so fast that people dont notice this(also played SG in HS and UCLA).

derrick rose would pass the ball more, but he can get a better shot.

D. Rose is the reason the term "the point god" came to be.

do you really not think D. Rose is a legit "1", "PG"? that makes me sad, i bet Cal would disagree with you

i find d rose to be much more of a legit 1 than Deron.

i had D Rose to win the Ship in memphis 1st year, and i had him graded at 99(same as Cp3), which is 2 points higher than Len and 3 than Shabazz (my top 2 grades this year), i had Deron at 97 btw, and i have Dennis the Menace at 95 atm..

My statement had NOTHING to do with DRose. Just a general comment about needing someone with smarts to run an offense.

i agree with that statement about westbrook
but i adamantly disagree about it with D. Rose.

saying that is like saying you could forsee a scenario where d. rose's team is better off with him playing without the ball. to me thats preposterous

if i had john stockton and D Rose on my team, id give D Rose the ball and let stockton slash/set picks/ & play pg when D Rose needs a rest, id also move Cp3 off the ball if i had them both on the team, but would let Cp3 and stockton initiate the offense from halfcourt/ 2 minute

I didn't read that far, lol.

I was agreeing with the first sentence or two and adding my feeling about smarts over most things.
 
Okay, I read the whole thing. I stand by agreeing with all of it.. but I just discount the names.. I agree with the sentiment.

You are on fire today. You would have Stockton play off the ball? Well, I guess you don't really need assists anymore in basketball, then do you?

^^ btw i think schroeds has this kinda handle/balance, not even close to the finishing ability though.

i have everything on excel spreadsheets(like a bawse), year to year, massive amounts of data though but id say its quite organized... maybe i post them one day

My favorite was Aminu. Apparently Aminu is going to all of a sudden surprise us and be the best tweener ever.
