Official Jazz workouts thread

Yep, he is often giving up 30 pounds and 4 inches of reach at SF. My theory is you go as big as you can at a position as long as the player can guard his opponent on the perimeter. Hayward has good enough lateral speed to guard SGs, and as we know, can occasionally use his size to block shots when he does get beat.

The other guy who beat up Hayward was David West. Got Hayward injured.

McCollum would have a great situation playing with Favors, Hayward and Kanter, and he'd have a clear role learning a lot from what DWill did. Much better than ending up in Minnesota next to Rubio or Portland next to Lillard.

Agreed... Jazz should have given him a promise IMO.

No need to promise a guy you'd have to trade up to get and who has already worked out for other teams above you.

But the way things are shaking out, the Jazz might be able to pull this off. Both Burke and McCollum should be there at #7, and one of them is likely to make it to #9 (unless Detroit trades #8) where hopefully the Jazz can trade in.

This is a workout in Sacto including CJ McCollum, Michael Carter-Williams, Tony Snell and Solomon Hill. Also Peyton Siva. Interestingly enough, MCW seems to be hitting his shots, although the video might edit out some misses.

Here's a workout with Shabazz. Looking a bit more trim and athletic, imo...

No to both. He's a Communications Major.

I thought it was Journalism.

I think Locke can fall into a rut where he only see's what a guy can't do. The Jazzfanz 2013 Draftees thread does kind of the same. But Locke did it on a podcast, and McCollum called him on it. Thats a great way to force a new perspective and re-evaluation.

The more I think about it, I really wish the Jazz would target KCP and get him in for a workout. He's athletic, made great improvement from last year to this year, is a good perimeter defender (only Hayward did this last year for us), great rebounder for position at 7.1 per game(!), can shoot it, great size for his position, etc. If we don't think our PG is in this draft, KCP would be a good fit for our team, even if we had to move up to get him.

I just watched the video and read a couple of scouting reports on him. I like him as well and would be one of handful of guys I'd be happy with @ 14. Like the fact that he can shoot both off the dribble as well as spot up, tries hard on D, and is explosive in the open court. Only concern is that he needs improve his handles... but am confident he can do that.
