Meet Cody Zeller, the new stretch-4...

Have you ever seen an NBA shootaround? Most players on a given night can hit uncontested jumpers. Workouts are a part of the picture, but you still get your best data seeing what a player actually does during an actual basketball game.

Word up
I can remember watching players warm up before a jazz game and ostertag made like 7 threes in a row..... I even saw fesenko knockin down 3's while warming up.

I could really care less about Zeller's shooting. Can he defend, and rebound?

To be fair, he was asked to play Center at Indiana, which is really not his position. He's more of a stretch 4.

Nobody has seen him play the stretch 4 position for any amount of time.

Since scouts are considering new positions for people, maybe Olynyk could be a PG again. I mean no scout has seen him play it, but he used to, and he can shoot feom outside, play make, and then his lack of rebounding/ defense (cause of height) wouldn't be an issue. He'd just have to work on his handles more.

Yes, this is sarcasm.

For Realz?

Fwiw, I disagree that Zeller is a 'stretch 4' .. at least by my definition. I think he's a PF that can hit the occasional outside shot but play closer to the basket more regularly that a typical stretch 4. We all carry different definitions in our minds, though, so who knows..

I think if you're drafting him to do primarily that, he might struggle in the NBA... to be honest witchu.

I see a lot of people saying that. Why do you think so?

Because of his skin colour, and the stigma that comes with it, tbh. Cody would be a very good pick from 5-10, IMO.

I agree. I think the only knock is arm length. He has the height and athleticism, as well as touch, and footwork to easily play PF in the NBA. Yes, he'll get his shot blocked from time to time, but who doesn't?

Tony Allen.

I wasn't even directing that to you.... I have just seen the same thing said about like 10 guys in this draft.

Don't you think with the success of Kawhii though that there is a trend of new players focusing their skills at the defensive end & making 3pt shots?
