What's new

***Official new head coach search thread*** (merged)

Every video or written interview I've seen on Messina has been wildly impressive. Like, exactly what I'd want to hear from a coach. He seems very confident but not arrogant and seems like the game consumes him.

I want him. I'd take Longa as a conciliation.

Think you just might be turned on by the accent.

I like this Messina guy. First it would be cool to have the first European head coach in the NBA. Secondly, if Pop really thinks highly of him then I am in. He has won major European titles. My only concern is if he can relate to young american players.

I like Longabardi too. I am concerned that he has never been a head coach at the NBA level and does he know anything about the offense side of the game. I would be very happy with these two guys.

Well we have some foreign guys which he would be perfect with...

Kanter
Gobert
Neto

Then you have Hayward and Burke who by all accounts seems to be "students of the game" so I'm sure they'll get a whole lot from Messina.

Then you're left with Favors and Burks who to me are pretty down to earth anyway plus Malone is already mentoring Favors and you get Bryant to buddy up with Burks and problem solved.

I think overall he shouldn't have too many issues with this group of guys.

Messina is a sexy choice. Like I said earlier, I can see this guy as an unorthodox style of coach who is going to throw curveballs at all these other coaching regiments/strategies that coaches go out with. He's also low on the radar, and his name kicks ***.
Like some were saying, Longabardi as an assistant? We'd have one badass coaching staff, I can already tell. Add Wiggins to this team, and wabashhh...
