One thinkg i know its true is Bill Simmons never has rumor and this is most stupid ever! You cant trade top 10 player under contract for more years for picks!

Makes sense. Teams like the Lakers who are use to success dont want to waste time on a rebuild. Just trade for a super-star and then hope that super-star makes others want to sign. Pretty straight forward formula for success for a top market.

I haven't seen much of Hill but I keep hearing Jazz fans bring him up so I looked at his career numbers and some of his film.

I came away convinced most Jazz fans have fallen down and bumped their heads. The dudes numbers are piss poor. Go look at his stats compared to Trevor Booker's and try to sell me on why it just wouldn't be better to bring back Book. Add to that the fact that we already know Booker is great for our locker room and team chemistry. Don't get me wrong, we have to get deeper. Book (if he returns) needs to be the 12th guy on our bench if we want to take that next step.

And when you say that Hill's 3 point % isn't good but he shot it well in the playoffs, we're talking 1 playoff series. It's not as if we saw Indiana go on a long playoff run with Hill dropping bombs.

This guys gonna get overpaid because some GM saw him shoot decently in 1 series against Toronto and be stuck with a guy that shoots 40% from the field and 30% from 3 point land. No ****ing thank you.

Lol dude we're the Jazz. Our biggest offseason FA signings the last five years were Randy Foye and Trevor Booker. Sometimes we have to get lucky and find a diamond in the rough. Some GM said he played himself from getting his option declined to a 4yr/$40MM contract. I doubt he'll get that much, but I'd give him a shot for 4 to 6 million. I don't think he'll get 10MM a year like that one GM said. Indiana fans say he has consistently played great defense and we could always use that to give Hayward a break from guarding the other team's best player. He was locking down Derozan in that series for pretty long stretches. Defense was the only reason he worked his way into the rotation and his offense and inconsistent shooting (18% from 3 pre-allstar break, 41% post-allstar break) and poor finishing at the rim got him benched during the regular season. Obviously he has limitations (not a playmaker or good rebounder for his size, inconsistent shooter) which is why someone like Bazemore will get much more money than him.

Carroll shot 28.6% from 3 before he worked with Quin and in his two seasons in Atlanta he shot 36.2% and 39.5%. They also both have very high motors and play great defense. He just finished his 3rd year in the NBA after transitioning from playing power forward at Arizona. If there's a chance of some Jae Crowder, Aminu, or Carroll potential I'd take a flyer on him. I feel like some team will overpay him to try and turn him into Draymond or something though.

I'm of the firm belief that the Utah Jazz are at a crucial crossroads at which its time to start looking at Vets with a skill set that we can use right now as opposed to overpaying for young, underperforming FA's that Utah can "develop". I'm also of the belief that we have a very solid Defensive foundation already in place and this team doesn't get better and take that next step until we start adding guys who can score points coming off the bench.
 
Still no tumors this thread? Only fantasy and small man dreams. I can't believe this is true for the thread.

So let's say we get Solomon hill. What does it cost us? Let's say 11 million per year.
Does he even crack the rotation if the jazz are healthy? Does he play over lyles or burks? Probably not. We have ingles, a decent player that the team really likes and helps with chemistry, to sit on the bench for us.
Is solomon hill 9 million dollars better than ingles?

Jazz need an All star #1 option and/or veteran bench scorers. Everything this offseason should be geared towards filling those two needs.

They should be done with the asset acquisition and player development stage. It's time to move into the re-loading or (if they're really lucky) power-loading phase.

I wouldn't pay him 11MM per year. I would go as high as 6MM-7MM I think. Remember, with the cap going up your average starter will be making 15MM per year. There's reports that the Lakers are going to offer Festus Ezeli 3yr/50MM so there's going to be a lot of sticker shock coming. I would view Hill as a plug and play kind of guy. Like if we just need shooting then put Ingles in. If the other team has a guy who is on fire, then put Hill in to slow him down. I guess I also just see some Carroll potential in him in that he can be at least an average 3 point shooter. If we lose Booker and don't guarantee Johnson's contract, signing Hill for 6MM would still give us something like 27MM in cap space or something. It doesn't really matter, I bet someone desperate like Brooklyn will throw a bunch of money at him.

Im down with hill at that price. Hell im down with basically anyone at that price since all they will likely do is sit on the bench and not have much effect on wins and losses anyway. Swap cj, ingles, or booker for hill at 6 million. Whatever, doesn't really make much of a difference.
 
As long as Solomon doesn't cut the ball in half while mediating an argument about whose ball it is, sure sign him.
 
I only read the first few pages and the last few.

Is there any realistic chance the Jazz can get a top 2 pick with our assets? I mean, I honestly don't care who we trade to get one of those picks, we would have to do it.

Simmons or Ingram would be worth it. But I'm not convinced any team that would have those picks would give them up unless for a star.

I mean, the Cavs would not have traded Wiggins for Love unless LeBron had forced their hand. Most teams are not in that situation where they need to do something like that.
