Tonight's games:

Bulls @ Grizzlies
Spurs @ Jazz
Blazers @ Kings

Jazz win with a Grizz and Blazers loss puts the Jazz in 7th and a 1/2 game ahead of Dallas and 1 1/2 games ahead of Houston. It also places the Jazz1/2 game behind Portland and 1 game behind Memphis.

I would love to see the grizzlies fall to 9th. They are an embarrassment and would be horrible in the playoffs. Playoff basketball would be a lot more watchable if they didn't make it.

It's going to be really sad if Portland collapses while everybody here celebrates until we miss the playoffs by getting into a multi-team tiebreaker with them.

As long as Portland isn't involved, yes. Otherwise we lose most of them.
Are you saying that if we are in a tie breaker with memphis, Houston, and dallas then we win those tie breakers but if we are in a tie breaker with memphis, Houston, dallas, and Portland then suddenly we don't win our tie breakers with memphis, Houston and dallas anymore?

If it is multi team, then they factor it differently. But yes, Portland has us beat on a lot of levels. Luckily for us, they will probably have a couple more wins than we do.

The aggregate head-to-head amongst all the tied teams is the only thing that matters, and when you add a team that went 3-1 against the Jazz into the mix, it kills us.

Utah/Memphis/Houston/Dallas aggregate h2h records:

Utah: 6-4
Dallas: 6-5
Houston: 6-6
Memphis: 4-7

Utah would finish with the 6th seed in this scenario. Now throw Portland into the mix:

Dallas: 8-6
Portland: 8-7
Houston: 8-8
Utah: 7-7
Memphis: 6-9

Utah would drop to the 8th seed - it'd go to the conference record between them and Houston which they would lose. Now say Memphis wins a couple games and isn't involved in the tiebreaker.

Portland: 6-5
Dallas: 5-5
Houston: 6-6
Utah: 5-6

Utah would miss the playoffs.

Same exact scenario, except Portland doesn't collapse:

Utah: 4-3
Houston: 4-4
Dallas: 3-4

Utah would win the 3-way tie and, instead of missing the playoffs, would finish with the 7th seed.

Basically, the most probable outcome of Portland collapsing at this point is that it causes us to drop a couple seeds. So we should really stop celebrating when they lose.

What's the situation on a possible utah dallas houston tiebreak if we beat dallas?

Which team is out? This scenario can come true.

Today is the day I stop worrying about what seed we get. As long as we make it in to the playoffs healthy, I'll be happy with whoever we get.
