What's new

OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

If I were the Clippers, and I thought I was a title contender, I would NOT part with Billups. The dude is clutch at the end of games. He is this generation's Robert Horry.

He's a shell of his former self and hasn't played all season. Some of you are underestimating Pierce in this scenario.

How about John Wall?

I already addressed that. This is all predicated on Washington liking a pg in the draft. Let's be real about Wall. He has gotten Washington win totals of 23, 20 and 9 in his three seasons. That is terrible. Trading Wall for Jefferson gets you into the playoffs next year.

If they like a big in the draft, then they don't consider this trade. If there is a pg they like in the draft, then this would be a way to get their team relevant again, make some money and turn a player that has been hurt a lot into a playoff run...it's not a bad trade.

Again, if they don't like a pg in the draft, then this is all nonsense.

Wow...Jefferson has been to the playoffs twice. Once as a non essential rookie, and once in a lockout season. Pretty presumptuous to say Washington will be in the playoffs. What's more is that Jefferson is a free agent at the end of this year. 30 games really doesn't guarantee a re-up.

Teams haven't made a decision on any draft picks. They're still scouting. You don't make a decision related to the draft until after the season at the earliest. Washington isn't going to trade Wall for a guy in college who might take a dive, not pan out in workouts and such. Or he gets taken earlier. Then what? It's folly to pin hopes on a player you may not get or want later over a number 1 draft pick on a rookie contract.

And Those numbers you quoted are ridiculous. First year--rookie year. Second year--lockout year. Third year--injured (also compare the Wizards' record with and without him). It's a terrible deal for Washington.

I'd like us to try to get Redick. I love his game. Very underrated passer and defender. Great shooter.

Averages around 15 ppg and 5 apg.

Start him as our point guard and let him, together with Hayward, do the ballhandling while we develop a young point guard (via draft or trade) who comes off the bench.

Give Burks at least 25 minutes per game off the bench.

Start Kanter and Favors for sure, eventually Carroll, too.

Add one veteran and a young big for cheap to come off the bench.

Add a wing, that could start. What about Ilyasova or Pierce?

Starting lineup:

Favors - Veteran Big
Kanter - Ilyasova - Young Big
Ilyasova or Pierce - Carroll - ???
Hayward - Burks - ???
Redick - Young PG via Draft or Trade - Tinsley

Great outside shooting. Good interior defense. Great rebounding. Redick and Ilyasova might have problems guarding quicker and more athletic players but we could change the lineup and play Burks and Carroll if it's better against a certain opponent.

In the East, with Nene, Beal and a high draft pick, the Wizards make the playoffs. .500 in the East is a playoff team. 30 games doesn't guarantee a re-sign, but the Wizards would be perfect for Al. That is actually a team that would do well to have him be their 1st, 2nd, and third option.

As far as the wins go, the fact that he was injured is very important in this scenario. He has been injured in 2 out of the three years he has played. He did have one complete season, that landed Washington as the second worst team in the NBA. Wall hasn't exactly been great for them. Also, Wall's 3 pt % is AWFUL. TERRIBLE.

Wall isn't the blue chip prospect he was three years ago.

I know a guy who lives in Orlando and works for the Magic. He told me tonight that a deal is in the works between the Utah Jazz and the Orlando Magic. He over heard a conversation in the men's bathroom while he was in a stall. Jameer Nelson's name came up and a 1st round pick. Not sure for who though. All that was heard about who is thst the player coming back in return was that he wasn't very good at defense. Then the two gentlemen who were having the conversation left the bathroom.

Holy Cow. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure the only thing Washington has had that is half way decent is Wall and his development has been slowed by injury. Unless your as good as MJ. it takes more then one player to make the playoffs. Also this Wizards team has about as much direction as the 49ers did when they drafted Alex Smith #1. Smith struggled under the derection of Nolan and Singletery. That and the injuries is enough to ruin any career. If the wizards could ever get a good system and coach, then maybe the wizards would have something in Wall.

Oh and by the way Al in Wall's place ain't getting to the playoffs with that crap *** team.

Doesn't get much higher than the #1 pick which, ahem, Wall was just a couple of years ago, and they're not going to the playoffs. With Wall, they've been .500 which, in the East, might be a playoff team. Beal, Nene, Wall and a high draft pick is much, much, MUCH more appealing than Nene, Jefferson, Beal, and a high draft pick.

Jefferson "didn't have a complete season" in the two years prior to the Jazz acquiring him, so that injury history thing is pretty bogus.

There's just no way Washington is going to give up a recent #1 draft pick for an expiring, an unknown wing, and poor 1st round picks.

If you seriously think that Al is enough to get Wall you're an idiot. Try Kanter and both picks. MAYBE.

Wizards are playing lights out since Wall has come back despite injury problems for Beal. Adding a nice player to that team and they could easily make the playoffs next year with one of the best young cores in the league.

How are the Best Buy's in Orlando?

I dont think magic would take this trade if it include their 1st round pick.

I would take this trade if it did include their 1st round pick, Turkoglu and jameers contracts would run out in time for us to extend haward and favors.

Al is worth more than Kanter is.

I don't think Orlando is giving us their first for Al, however if we are trading for Reddick doesn't that put a fork in Burks ever getting minutes. In that case might as well give them Burks, and Al, and take back Afflalo then Reddick.

However I'd rather just let Al expire then taking Reddick and Jameer, who I want no part of and think Burks will be better then Reddick, but not if we get Reddick, because that leaves little time for Burks to develop. Let's find some smart trades people!
