What's new

Official UofU homer thread

This season I moved my season tickets over to the 50 yard line.

I have really appreciated the excellent view in the first two home wins.

Here's hoping for a third.

In all seriousness, how do we NOT win this game? Kyle will have the troops on high focus, not wanting letdown after the bye week. While I don't think it'll be a blowout (Cal's offense is too good for that, despite how good our defense is), I think we will win comfortably.

I'm still geeking out about how our linebackers and secondary have looked this year. Probably shouldn't be so exhuberant about the linebackers - I mean, they're always good - but boy, haven't Gianni Paul and Kylie Fitts been great???

LOVING this season so far.

I think Fitts has played so well that Dimick gets bumped back to the other side of the line. Utah's defense is set up to all the LE make the big plays. That's where Kruger, Reilly, Orchard have all blossomed. I think Fitts is the next great end at Utah.

Paul was amazing last game in coverage. Utah let him cover the RB one on one and he broke up some down field passes. Very impressive.

Cal is talented, experienced, and hungry. They are gunna bring it. I thought this game was a trap as soon as I saw the schedule. Now that I have seen Cal I'm even more concerned. Not only is this probably going to be our toughest game to date it could be our toughest game of the season. I think Kyle will do everything he can to get them ready but it's up to the players to get over Oregon.

I disagree. Michigan, ASU, UCLA, and USC are all better teams. Heck, I'm not sure Cal beats Oregon.

Take it in context. I think he means that "toughest game of the season" includes trying to get back to reality after the Oregon game. Not toughest team... toughest game.

Ah, Oregon.

Now THAT was the best road trip I've taken in a long, long, long time. It has never felt so good to be a die-hard fan of the visiting team.

Good point. No argument there.

I'd agree with that. Big game for Utah.

My sister lives in Oregon and went to that game and said it was quite a experience, I would have loved to be there myself. How were your interactions with Oregon fans? Last season's game I sat directly in front of one of the douchiest obnoxious Oregon duck fans you'll ever meet. Did you take any pictures at the game?

Honestly, 99% of my interactions with Oregon fans was overwhelmingly positive and welcoming. It helps that I'm a big guy and I had a beautiful blonde on my arm. Ironically, both she and I caught more **** when we were without each other than when we were together. But the people that were rude or mean were so few and far between. Seriously, had a great time. So many people complimentary of the Utes, and thanked us so much for traveling out.

Took a TON of photos. Most all of the good ones are on my FB page for those that are connected to me there. I don't use a pic hosting site so I don't really have a way to post any on here.

Let me try to upload a couple:

For the record, the night life in Eugene, Oregon SUCKS. But we found a bar on Friday night and had a few drinks and hung out with a bunch of granolas and hipsters in our state of overdress.

Was a great trip!!!!!!! So much fun!!!!

Our secondary does look improved this season. I've always felt (in previous seasons) like they were the weak link in an otherwise strong defense. I preferred to see opponents face third-and-short situations, as opposed to third-and-long, because the D seemed to handle short run attempts better than 12-15 yard passing attempts.

The one team we've faced that should have really tested that secondary had major QB issue instead.

I'm cautiously optimistic going into the Cal game. Time for the secondary to step up and prove their mettle. Otherwise, Goff will eat their lunch. Cal has a pretty anemic O line, and he's been playing with defenders in his face non stop, and still getting it done. I don't feel like they've beaten anyone of significance, though, so I'm still confident.

This game is ours to take. We just gotta step up and take it.

Man after USC loses to Washington at home tonight it's really shaping up nicely for us to be in the Pac 12 championship representing the south. ASU, USC, AZ and Colorado all have 2 losses and UCLA has 1, gives us some breathing room to where we really could afford a loss, which the obvious goal is go unbeaten but imo with this conference is unlikely to put out an undefeated team.

It's crazy. The bad news is, in the PAC-12, the home team's loses!

We will change that this weekend.

Can I not post pictures from my phone anymore?

Just walking to class and I got same pictures of the gameday set.
