Official UofU homer thread

We know 3 things without a doubt about Cy:

1. He is posting everywhere on the board constantly, in most high traffic threads at least.

2. He loves Mississippi St. football

3. He LOVES to troll anyone and everyone.

After that not much else is clear... Might even be a woman as far as I know.

4. If he was a guest in your home and behaved the way he does in here you would show him the door.

He CAN rock a pair of jorts, tho...

You guys know it's not about Utah or Miss St. or college football at all, and Cy is winning handily, right?
Winning what? Most annoying poster since Conan? without a doubt.
Least knowledgeable college football fan on the board? check.
Fan of the least relevant football team on the board? Maybe, BYU did something in 1984, has Miss ST. done anything but ride the jock of Alabama, Auburn, Florida or LSU since then? No? Then probably.

To get this thread back on track.

With the U having a bye week my first reaction was good so they don't have a let down this weekend but someone else thought they would rather have them play and keep the momentum from the Oregon win.

Personally I trust my first instinct that overall it is a good thing not just for to let the the players regroup emotionally but to regroup physically from TW to the Def Line. Although as a general rule another 2 weeks would be a perfect time to have a bye as that would mark the halfway point of the season but those are rare to get scheduled perfectly like that so you just make the best out of whenever the bye week is.

CAL is a much much improved team and this game had me nervous even before their 4-0 start, they are a spread fast pace team just their QB isn't as much of a running threat like Oregon but then their QB is a much better passer then any the Utes have faced this season.

Also the U debut their new home field turf this game which will also be cool to see.

I've been saying it long before Utah trounced the Ducks, and I'll say it again: I see Cal as the most offensively explosive team in the PAC this year. Personally, I'm glad Utah has 2 weeks to prep for them. Sure, it'd be nice to get 2 weeks to prep for a road game at USC, etc. but I'll choose to look on the bright side of the bye coming when it is. Just off the top of my noggin, Utah seems to do really well coming off of byes during the Whitt era.

Hopefully they're ready because the Defense is gonna have their hands full.

I think you're right. Goff is looking phenomenal this year. I know it's cliche, but Utah has to pressure him early and often. The flip side is, Cal has a pretty meh defense. If Travis can play like he played last Saturday, it bodes well for us.

I think we work Cal over. Their defense is maybe slightly better than Oregon's. Goff is great, but our defense is better than theirs. We haven't blitzed much this year and Cal hasn't seen much of our defense. Sack Lake City returns this game. Before the year started I had Utah winning 35-17.

Remember, this Cal team lost to BYU last year and was in a tight game with Washington last week. They went wire to wire with a mediocre Texas team.

If we are the number 10 team, and we are better than that, we win this game easily.

Enjoy this season.

I think bye weeks are always good...... Some come at better times than others but it's always good to be able to get healthy and have an extra week of practices and have an extra week to prepare for a specific opponent...... Plus the opponent does not usually have those same opportunities so they are at the disadvantage.

Here is where this is different, in my eyes:

Whitt is always a straight shooter. When he says our secondary is inexperienced, it is.

When he calls the football team an equal with Oregon, that is something different.

When he says on national tv after the Michigan game that we didn't play well and we should have won by more, that is different.

When the Oregon game ends and Whitt asks if anyone is surprised by the outcome, that is different.
