Official Utah/Minnesota/Philadelphia Pick Watch

I’d be totally fine with getting Ingram, but based on the cost (OG) and risk vs. reward (Ball) - Id much rather see the Jazz use their assets in other places.
I don't disagree, but I think if you grab someone like BI then getting the next available guy to contend makes more sense.

Can you quantify "a lot"?

To be fair, I am not prodding, I like BI and would love to see him on the Jazz. It doesn't seem he is the best fit where he is, potentially clashing with Zion. So from the stats I am just not seeing him as a net positive for them right now, if anything it's pretty flat. His win shares and WS/48 are the lowest they have been in 5 seasons, so he seems to be disconnected or just not having the same impact he has had in the past on the game. His BPM is flat as well, lowest it has been in 5 seasons as well. Seems like he isn't contributing to wins at the rate that would be expected of him from years past.
I can't. I get what you are saying tho and it has been a talking point among others about him so you aren't crazy. I just think he's turned the corner the past 2 or so years. I think the lack of continuity with injuries to his teammates has made it harder for him to turn the production to wins.

Im looking at BI metrics to try and understand the conundrum why he hasnt won them games this year despite having good basic stats and everything is looking either ok or ugly. Nothing jumps out positively.

PER ok at 16.8
PIE ok at 12.6
WS/48 ugly 0.67
OBPM bad 0.9, DBPM ugly -0.9
VORP ugly 0.5

Raptor/WAR ugly

Isn't the NO coach's personality the opposite of Will Hardy. Do they even run a system? BI may do very well in a different system.

I havent watched them at all.. but Hardys system should work for BI if he moves well off ball.

Im more worried about his defense based on the metrics and that 5-10 record without Zion. He has 3 games with positive BPM in those 15 games....

Would have to watch him to make a call either way.

BI has had a rough year being in and out of the lineup... last year he was more impactful. I think he might have been a touch overrated. I like him but he seems to really dominate the ball. Would be nice to see if the coach had a little more imagination and used him a little differently.

NO have good parts and some fit... but then its like they have too many parts and keep fumbling around trying to find something. CJ has a hand injury that likely is bothering him. Last night I just watched and thought - there is a lot more Josh Richardson than I'd like and you have Trey Murphy sitting on the bench. I just don't know what the "vision" is there.

He's kinda iso heavy (haven't looked at the numbers... just when I watch that's what it seems like). It seems like they have 5 guys out there doing things but no real plan.

Wolves the dumbest team alive. You spend a considerable amount of assets and don't maximize the guy you traded for?
They really should have traded for Dejounte Murray instead of Rudy if they weren't going to plan around him. It would have been a more impactful use of assets. At least we get to benefit off their stupidity. I bet you in the next 18 months Rudy or KAT gets moved. They gonna ruin Ant.

Yeah then I would say no. I want to watch ball movement offense from anyone who is not a superstar. If we bring a superstar who plays 25% iso then so be it if the team is winning.. but no second tier iso guys please.

Quin built a whole team and strategy around making Rudy work. Paying the absolute premium superstar trading price for Rudy Gobert, and then just trying to insert him into a team (that doesn't have very good shooters) was asinine.

We eatin though.

E: Cy beat me.
I wonder if Atlanta goes after Rudy this summer... I bet you Quin would love to just recreate his Rudy magic with Trae. Murray/Capela for Rudy?

I think the cost would be prohibitive as well. I'd lean towards a slow build or a different type of player to acquire.

Thats not a bad callout. Trae loves to draw fouls on driving so he doesnt mind paint not being empty and he is the most fearless lob passer in the league.

If there is a player in the league who can make full use of Rudys strengths its probably him... assuming they can mesh and build good chemistry.

I actually can see something like this happening. I’d assume it would be Murray, Capela and Collins for Gobert and Conley though. I’d have to think that there’s other assets moving towards Atlanta if this happens - and where do those assets come from?

I would venture to guess its part of the reason Quin took the job... and remember he has some say in the personnel.

Hmmmmmm....

Maybe like the Sac pick... I don't think a lot of assets would need to move as Murray is an expiring contract and Capela/Collins deals are just as rough as Rudy's deal.
