Official Utah Utes Football 2012 Thread

If Jordan Wynn had been our QB in that game we would have lost badly. The pressure Hayes was under would have had Wynn scared to death.

Hays isn't nearly as bad as people make him out to be.

He at least has a good arm and doesn't take too many risks. He may not win you a national championship but he surely won't "lose" you any games either. As long as the Utes have a struggling Oline and a Freshie who's still trying to learn the playbook, Hays, a guy who won't necessarily lose you anything is really the best you can hope for. Wilson come next year will be able to win and lose you games with his risky plays.

Hays > Wynn, for sure. I'm glad that's resolved now, although Wynn was a champ for trying to fight through being made of glass.

I think Wynn had more talent at one time. The problem is that his head has not been right since his 1st injury. I don't blame him with his fragile body. But he was better as a Freshman than he ever was afterwards.

Oh, no doubt. The future was bright at one point, definitely. But, **** happens.

Personally, I was never really impressed by Wynn... He did have a good game against Cal his freshman year. But that's looking more and more like a fluke to me than anything...

But I wonder what his career might have been had he sat out a year or two studying the game of Football, hitting the weight room hard, etc and taking over this program as maybe a Junior.

Perhaps he would have been better prepared to take the hits, unload the ball quickly, and lead an offense had he not been essentially "thrown to the wolves" as a 160 lbs freshman?

Some people are inherently built better than others. Rarely with weight training - which he did A LOT of just to get where he got (he was 140 out of HS if I remember right) - does a person's general body type and nature fundamentally change.

He's got a small frame and is an ectomorph. The cloth he's cut from isn't one that's durable enough. It happens.

The thing that sucks for BYU Football fans but probably doesn't sting to the majority of BYU fans/leadership is that now the season is gone.

Being independent essentially puts the season on the line for every single game.

Teams belonging to a BCS conference could lose all their non-conference games and still find themselves in a BCS game. With USC dumped by Stanford, Utah very easily could find themselves matched up for a chance at the Rose Bowl.

I definitely think something will need to break in the next year or two. Either BYU Football fans flex their muscles and force leadership's hands or BYU continues to fall behind. If I'm Steve Young and other FOOTBALL fans/donors, I'm DEMANDING BYU jump to a BCS conference soon.

I've heard that the Big 12 was willing to work with byu's Sunday schedule. Unfortunately, the real problems occurred because of the crappy BYU tv station which isn't even in HD.

While Football fans may not give a damn about BYU TV, leadership and BYU fans feel it's somehow beneficial maintaining a crappy TV station and broadcasting it to some kid in Argentina (who doesn't give a damn about BYU sports anyway). I feel like there's a big gap between what the athletic leadership wants to do and what the University leadership wants to do...

The first time we won I was like yeaaa! The 2nd time we won I went whooooooo! The 3rd time we won, I think my face exploded and then I rushed the field. Utah 4-1 on the season!!!

My thoughts:

Being at the game, I didn't have the luxury of numerous replays (or any replays, in some instances), and I certainly don't think that if BYU had pulled it out at the end it would have been the ref's fault (more on that in a second...), but I don't remember a game so full of bull**** reviews. It seemed like every time Utah would catch a break, they would review it and reverse it. Maybe a bit of crimson colored glasses there. Also, the ball spots seemed just awful for Utah, all game long.

BRIAN JOHNSON is awful. Run-run-throw gets easy to defend when you keep doing it over and over again. I get that he wanted to establish a run game, but minus JWIV, there wasn't much there. Lots of 3rd and long.

Fans (I'm looking at you, MUSS) - keep your asses off the field. For **** sakes, show a little restraint. If Jesus hadn't blocked that last field goal, you could have really ****** our **** up.

That ending was insane. This game rarely disappoints.

Another year, another $25 from Trout.

Now that the easy part of the schedule is over, it's time to get ready for conference play. Sure, gimme wins against their bitch and Northern Colorado High are nice but now it's time for conference play, which means a chance at the Rose Bowl, not the ROFLcopter Bowl.

I don't have a problem with a reviewed play being overturned. The only call that pissed me off was the personal foul in the end zone when the Ute DB blasted the receiver as the ball went off the receiver's hand. I was disappointed by the first play (the facemask taking the safety off the board) but it was the right call. That end zone play was ********, though.

Just got home. What a game. Riley is a competitor and has some hellawheels. The refs blew all night, from calls to spots to you name it. #9 on BYU is the biggest douchebag that ever walked the face of the earth and someone needs to tackle his *********. The crowd was amazing but what a bunch of dumb asses in the MUSS, good hell. Other than that I have no comment at this time.

Are you guys seriously mad at people for rushing the field the 2nd time we won?

It was pretty lame to rush the field the first time we won, but I can't blame people for rushing the field the second time. They were already basically on the field, saw a kick get blocked and thought the game was over. Retarded of the refs to call a penalty in that situation. It had zero bearing on the play.

Oh well, made for an even more gut wrenching loss for the cougs.

I thought it was stupid to rush the field at all. Save that for big wins against good teams, not same-old, same-old against your bitch.

If peeps are gonna rush, fine. But just wait until the damn game is done. Especially when you were just chastised for that very thing.

I do think that it was lame to rush the field the first time. 2nd time, everyone was already there. 3rd time was a legit field rushing opportunity after sooooo much BS.

I rushed the field the third time, ran straight for the byu players, saw cops surrounding them with their hands held up and decided not to get tasered.

What is worse?

Watching the Jazz being blown out by the Spurs?

Or watching BJ and Doman try and run offenses?

Ugh.

At least tomorrow is the NFL. can't wait to watch some real offensive coordinating...

If I were President of the world, I'd send BJ to Oregon for a few years and Doman to Stanford. Both could benefit greatly from studying offense over at those two schools.
