This is the official Western Conference standings prediction thread, plus who wins the NBA finals? You can also add the East standings if you want, but I don’t really care about them myself. Winner gets bragging rights and/or warm fuzzies inside!

Here are a few "power rankings"

Soft predictions. Teams aren't listed in any particular order. I just think that, for example, the Thunder, Spurs, and Lakers will each finish within 1, 2, or 3, etc etc.

1, 2, 3:
Thunder, Spurs, Lakers

4, 5, 6, 7:
Jazz, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Clippers

8, 9, 10:
Wolves, Mavericks, Warriors

11, 12, 13:
Blazers, Suns, Hornets

14, 15:
Kings, Rockets

Here goes:

1. Lakers (though the thought of it happening pains me)
2. Thunder
3. Spurs
4. Clippers
5. Grizzlies
6. Jazz
7. Nuggets
8. Timberwolves

Albeit a few year later than many hoped or expected, the NBA gets its LeBron vs Kobe match-up in the Finals with the Heat repeating due to having the best player on the court in LeBron and a deeper bench.

1. OKC
2. SAS
3. LAL
4. LAC
5. UTA
6. DEN
7. MEM
8. DAL

The Heat will beat the Lakers in the Finals. Before the Harden trade I was predicting a rematch of last year's Finals, but now I'm leaning towards LA coming out of the West. Having said that, I think the Lakers are better built for the playoffs than the regular season.

ESPN has Jazz ranked 7th in the West and 10th overall. Can't the Jazz transfer to the East so we can pretend to have a contender? That and the inevitable title of winningest franchise in history.

1 Thunder---- Thunder in 5-----Thunder--- Thunder in 6----------Thunder--- Gasol thows out back, kobe hurts finger
2 Lackers---- Lakers in 4 -------Lakers----- Sadly lakers in 5-------Lakers------Dwights back goes out again.. thunder's

This. In the playoffs you don't need your bench to play as many minutes.

Article predicting the year on CBS Sports had an interesting take:
"Coach of the Year: Tyrone Corbin, Jazz. It's hard not to love how the Jazz have lost Jerry Sloan and Deron Williams and simply moved forward with their identity intact. Corbin is a big part of the reason, and this Jazz team -- younger and more athletic than Jazz playoff teams of old -- should be able to make some noise in the West"

Spurs
Thunder
Lakers
Clippers
Denver
Utah
Memphis
Minnesota

I'd like to play the Thunder or Lakers in the first round. Leaning towards the thunder.

I think you are going to see some surprises this year including aging teams showing their age..... so just to shake things with some unconventional picks:

OKC
Denver
Memphis
Clippers
Jazz
Lakers
San Antonio
Warriors

If this happens you will replace Kicky as the board prophet.
