OKC @ SLC - Utah Jazz Game - 7:00 PM MST on FSOK, ROOT, ZONE

The only way I can come to terms with these wins is getting rid of RJ, and maybe Marvin. Lets get Gobert back here, and get him minutes. Play Burks a little more.
Kanter a little more.

Are you listening Jazz Front Office?
+1, Id say the majority of fans here want to see that- one thing we could probably all agree on, no matter if they are pro tanker or not.

@Hotttnickkk

How's that one?

Gordon needs to ease it off. Less miles ran, less blood sweated, less heart beats.

I'm seriously concerned about his health. I'm glad Trey is back.

Is it bad to say that Gordie kind of has a transgender look, like he was born a girl, but his ma n pop wanted a boy, and he ended up a genetic freak after the procedure?

Heh?

Possible. To me he looks more like a hillbilly father and a beautiful mother's son.

Like the daddy would be one of those:

And mama would be one o'those:

Ok.

Enjoy watching another 5 years of ****ty basketball, dumb ***.
What?

I see a team growing together, competing fairly consistently, and playing pretty smart, entertaining basketball. Not ****ty at all.

On the other hand, were the team trying to lose, it would definitely be ****ty basketball. If that became a team philosophy (not saying it would), as it was for long stretches of time for the Clippers, Kings, and Bobcats, there'd be a pretty damn good chance we'd be watching ****ty basketball for 5+ years.

Yep this is exactly the approach that amazes me. Apparently, there are many on this site who simply lost an appreciation for the game of basketball. Instead of a natural excitement after a great game which included a poster, a duel of two shooters and many other subplots those people are only capable to see it through the eyes of a cold-blooded bean counter: recalculate the winning percentage, the number of ping-pong balls in 6 months, how many minutes played player X and how many player Z... That what looks pathetic to me.

Sometimes I wonder why do these people watch any Jazz games this season: wouldn't it be better to wait 2-3 more years until the Jazz become contenders? Meanwhile all data that they need could be easily obtainable from the box scores. Seriously, what happened to the love of the game?
This post needs to be quoted again. Perfect. Thanks.

I wouldn't watch it JUST because of a name on the jersey. I'd also have a favourite monkey, and I would barrage this board with threads about how the coach isn't using him right, how he needs to be played in his natural position, and how his high-fiber diet is making him lethargic and more prone to randomly crapping himself while on the breakaway.

Then you would be bitching and complaining and that would mean you are not loyal and not a true fan though

Yes I agee it was a great post

However, I think there can be more than one way to enjoy the jazz this season that is just as valid..... see below
I can see the other sides points (non tankers) but I actually am having fun with the tank..... this season is awesome (other than marv and jeffy) and I like checking the scores of the other tankers to see if they won.

This year I get excited when we lose and upset when we win..... where most years its the opposite.

The important thing is that I still care deeply about each game and hate it when we have 3 days with no jazz..... I start jonesin for some jazz and get all excited for each game.

I just feel like we have a great opportunity to add the piece we need to get a championship!
Imagine a lineup of burke, hayward, jabari/wiggins, marvin, favors.
With burks, kanter, evans, gobert and some good free agent vets off the bench. (Maybe hienrich, landry, jarret jack, reddick, foye or guys like them)

How much fun would that team be to watch?

The key ingredient in that team is jabari/wiggins though and that ingredient is slipping away.

I dont consider kanter and burks scrubs.

Its quite simple..... less jeffy and marv..... more kanter and burks.

That's not intentionally losing or playing scrubs

I don't consider Kanter or Burks scrubs either. My post has more to do with in-game strategy than broader organizational strategy. Last night the team was rolling, Hayward was on fire, and it was a lot of fun. Those games are going to happen at times, not matter how hard we try to tank, and when they do, we might as well enjoy them rather than sit around and wring our hands and fret about it.

I think everyone here is also assuming that Williams is a rental with no LT future on the Jazz. I'm not sure that's true; in fact, I'm guessing that there's serious discussions among the FO whether Williams is part of the future. I think he can be a solid contributor on a good team, and he'll come much cheaper when his contract is up. I have less issue with playing him than Jefferson, though I am among those who think Kanter should be getting much more playing time than he is.

The biggest frustration i have is with posts like these...

To answer your question, YES!!!!!!!!

Fire the coach, give away players (like the Bulls just did), bench some with phantom injuries.....

Do whatever it takes to get Jabari or Wiggins

Dude, we aren't reinventing the wheel here. Countless teams have done this (Seattle, Chicago, SA, GS), are doing this (see the Chicsgo Bulls), and will do this.

The long-term health of the franchise is so much more important than whatever short-term gains we are making right now.

I apologize. I will do my best in the future to try to write posts that don't frustrate you so much. Your emotional well-being is very important to me.

I'm curious, of all the countless teams have done this, how many have managed to get the final piece to the championship puzzle this way, beside SA? the most recent example of tanking everyone loves to cite is GS, which tanked and got Barnes. Yet Barnes is now an off the bench player whose role has become substantially diminished since acquiring Iguadola.

I'm still a supporter of the tank, always have been, but I also sense that people are grossly over inflating it's historical relevance.

And does SA even win a chip if they selected Van Horn instead of Duncan? Its still rolling dice.

Anyone who thinks a draftpick will bring championships is fooling himself/herself. That era of basketball is over. If you build a good system, you will always have chances to fill your empty or broken spots to strengthen the system up. Therefore as I've said in my earlier posts, Jabari or Wiggins or another franchise player dream does not end if you won't be able to draft them/him and as a matter of fact, more experienced is better. And we all know that the Jazz are not doing a great job of developing the young players. Pretty good in some matters, especially athleticism, but you can see a clear lack of improvement in the most important parts of each of these individuals' game. But there is no reason to think why it wouldn't get there eventually. I can see Favors being a decent pick & pop guy added to his current amazing skills ,if he hopefully does not quit the current level of defense. That depends mostly on his foul problem and it depends on the guards to filter him less trouble down the paint. Trey is amazing and set to go on his great journey of neat-o-ness. Gordon can be even better if the system allows him to do less work. Kanter is still a friggin' baby yet to grow! Burks can still become a Wade type of athlete/SG. And as for Marvin and RJ, oh man, there are great things waiting for them in the near future (j/k).

No one is denying its a crapshoot, but there was no way in hell the spurs were going to draft Van Horn over Duncan, and yes. The draft isnt usually the ticket to a Championship unless your drafting Duncan while already having a collection of good players. Many here feel we are a superstar away from contending, and both Parker and Wiggins seem to fit that bill. Since we aren't going to sign LBJ in the off season we need to take full advantage of this opertunity to maximize our effort to work toward a chip.

And if you draft either one of those and they bust?

Then we are no worse off than we are now..... Its not like drafting jabari or wiggins means we lose what we already have.

Except we wasted a season, potentially traded away assets for nothing to lose more games, and become at risk to have the leave town. Fans don't watch when teams aren't trying.

I don't think a front office for a professional team would trade away assets for nothing. A trade is assets for assets

Season will be just as wasted if we win 28 games and get the 10th pick in the draft (and that pick busts) anyways.
Also most fans are supporting the tank.

If the pick busts, then next year we still have burke, Hayward, burks, kanter, favors, evans, gobert, neto, plus 2 first round picks, plus lots of money to spend on free agents.

Whether we go for the worst record in the league this year or shoot for the stars and get that coveted 10th worst record spot, we will still have a very good team next year that will compete for the playoffs (they are already showing the ability to do that right now) that the fans will love to watch.

This year truly does not matter...... Next year we will be good and fun to watch regardless of what happens in this current season. Might as well have as much talent as possible for our playoff run next year imo.
