I do think it’s worth considering the role that inherent genetic or biological advantages play in competitive sports as part of this conversation.
For example, if a trans woman or an intersex woman has a strength advantage over her peers, is that more meaningful than the same advantage a cisgender woman has thanks to a condition that causes her body to naturally produce more testosterone? Is it more meaningful than a couple inches of extra height, or longer limbs or any number of things that provide advantages in different sports?
It seems one side of this issue really isn’t considering this at all, but if we’re truly interesting in fairness - inasmuch as it can exist in sports, I think we should be.
