Thank goodness white people waited it out long enough for it to no longer be only they're fault.
Smart.
Snark aside. Nothing is going to change until white people, as a whole, learn to accept the fact that systematic racism will continue to exist until we acknowledge that white privilege exists, and start viewing racial issues in the country through that lens.
Many have been fighting this fact and it continues to slow progress. Just because you're white does not mean you're a racist. But white culture holds the lion share of responsibility for racial prejudice in the US, and until that is accepted nothing will change.

You can be snarky all you want, that's fine.
You are right that being white does not mean you are a racist. Just like being black doesn't make you a racist. But there are plenty among both races here in the U.S.
Does systemic racism exist? Yes
Do whites as a whole need to be more aware of this? Yes
Do whites need to do more in their personal lives to fix this? Yes
Do whites need to do more on a societal level to fix this? Yes
Do blacks need to do more on a personal level to fix this? Yes
Do blacks need to do more on a societal level to fix this? Yes
What I meant by spreading the blame is not an attmept to change history. It is there for all to see. The marches, Little Rock, segregation, plantations, civil war, incarceration rates and how they differ... list goes on and on.
But there are plenty of racists among all the races unfortunately. And they all spread their taint and disease. The fix to this will require massive changes among all categories/groups of people. Not just whites. Just because whites have had the power as the majority (and what that entails) does not mean that other races are not doing things that contribute to the problem. I'll even go so far as to say that historically white to bear a far larger burden than blacks. But in this day in age no one is "clean". We hve all ended up covered in ****. Even if we took different paths there.
On a side note BabyPeterzz...you have hit me in this discussion for mandating what blacks must and must not do. Fair enough. But it doesn't really work when you turn around and tell white people what they must and must not do.
The less that it is "white people this" and "black people that" and the more it is "we should this" and "we should that" the more progess we will make. Progress we need to make.
