Pacers Making Play at Millsap?

I think they have a better chance at making the playoffs than the Jazz or Warriors though. I'd only be interested in that trade if it got us a lottery pick.

Why's everyone trying to toss Millsap out? I think he's better than Granger (esp. considering contract/age). I agree with GVC -- don't even think about Granger. If Pacers are not going to send us George & Hill/or perhaps Collison for Millsap & Bell (which they probably won't), I don't see any reason to try to figure out how to push Millsap onto them. He's too valuable for us.

Granger is only 2 years older than Millsap and will probably age better.

I doubt Indy would move Paul George at this point. We view him the same way I'm sure you Jazz fans view Derrick Favors. As a potential major star.

As for Millsap (or even Jefferson, since word is he could be available, too): I'd be willing to move some pieces for him, but I wouldn't overspend, not when we have the cap-space to sign a Nene or David West.

I wouldn't move Granger for Millsap. It just doesn't make sense if Indy wants to be as competitive as possible, right now.
I wouldn't move Paul George for Millsap. See above.
I wouldn't move Roy Hibbert for Millsap. Centers with his size and skill-level are too rare to give up.

Anything else, yes.

The best deal I'd probably offer would be something along the lines of Darren Collison, Brandon Rush, and a moderately protected (top-five) 2012 1st round pick. Whether that'd be worth if for Utah, or whether you could get a better deal, I don't know.

I would possibly do that deal. Protected top 5 would be irrelevant because the Pacer's will be a fringe playoff team at worse, don't see them getting close to top 5 pick status. I still think the Pacer's front office would sooner part with Granger than Collison + Top 20 pick.

Thanks for your input, but if that was the outline to a deal for Millsap, the Jazz would've hung up immediately. If they're talking, one of those three you are saying no to is being discussed.

I think the Pacers would deal Hibbert, but not for Millsap. I think they'd think about dealing George, too. They're not dealing Granger if they're going for it now. So I guess we just have different feelings on George as it relates to Millsap.

Jefferson on the other hand...

Jefferson on the other hand...

Jefferson for Collison and draft pick? or Collison, Posey and draft pick?

Jefferson for Hibbert. No picks, no other players (unless they wanted to gift us Collison, but they won't). Jazz save a ****load of money and get a player that's got a brain. Pacers still need a C, and Millsap cannot replace Hibbert. Jefferson can.

And to address something here, Hibbert is a good passer. At Georgetown, he was both the #1 option and major distributor in their offense both from the high and low post. He's still a little too tall/thin for his own good, but he's a well-rounded player. The Pacers tried to make him Hakeem in the post because they had literally nothing else inside, but I think he would do much better (AKA be more efficient and/or help the team succeed) in a more complimentary role, and that's exactly the kind of player Favors and Kanter need to be around to develop better.

OR, with those savings, you go after Marc Gasol and flip Hibbert for something else.

Don't you remember Collison never wanted to play here. It might have been because of Dwill but he told Utah to pass on him. I think we would need a three way to do this. I think the Jazz might want Phyco T. We should be looking into getting Knight from Detroit IMO.

He said no such thing. He had a workout scheduled and canceled. Calm down.

I like Josh McRoberts a lot, maybe more that Phyco T.

I believe McRoberts is a free agent and could be had for cheap if we do deal Millsap or Jefferson and dont get a big man in return, but I know everyone on the board would want to bring back Fesenko if we trade Jefferson. He apparently is coming back over and looking for a contract (he did have some offseason surgery though).

Here's a very interesting thread regarding Jefferson primarily, but Millsap is also mentioned a lot. Sounds like perceptions league-wide vary as much as on our board (some see Millsap as a perfect complimentary player, some see Jefferson as a beast that needs a chance and forget last year happened).

I would love it if the Jazz gave up Millsap, Bell, and Hayward and we could get Knight from the Pistons and Granger from the Pacers

Harris/Knight
CJ/Burk
Granger/Evans
Favors/Memo
Jefferson/Kanter

As our core for the next couple of years.

I would be devistated if we lost Milsap AND Hayward at the same time.
