Granger is only 2 years older than Millsap and will probably age better.
Granger's PPG and FG% are already on the decline. I'm not really interested in a leading scorer who shoots 42.5% from the field.
Granger is only 2 years older than Millsap and will probably age better.
Paul Millsap & Raja Bell for Danny Granger & George Hill would make sense for BOTH teams.
Realistically, we're looking at trading Millsap for B Rush/McRoberts + draft picks + fillers.
No way KoC is gonna trade Millsap for a draft choice and reserves. He's gonna want an established player in return.
For us, yeah, of course we'd prefer George over Granger, but Indy ain't doin' that.
As far as Hill goes, I'd take AJ Price and a #1 instead. Price actually played well for them. Always gotta have options when trying to trade...
Are you sure you've got that the right way round?? Do you seriously prefer George over Granger?? George has some nice upsides sure.. but enough to prefer him over Granger?? Really??
In 5 years, Granger might not even be starting anymore and paid $40+ million up to that point. On the Jazz, he'd be paid to take developmental time away from younger players and be his best when it mattered least.George is the Pacer's equivalent to Hayward. He had some nice games, and a good ending to the season (his D on Rose). He is now overly hyped. I honestly don't think he is that great, but Pacer's fans are up in arms in about how great he will be.
Maybe a 3-way deal with another team? Bring in a PG and picks maybe, and cash? It could come together. I still think it is more or less a fart in the wind.
The Indiana Pacers are coming off of fascinating season. They started off hot as fire, then cratered a bit. Jim O'Brien was fired, and then interim coach Frank Vogel took them to the playoffs, where they had as competitive a five-game series against the Bulls as a five-game series can be. So they're looking to upgrade the team and make a run, right now. They brought in George Hill through trade, and now are looking for more additions.
The Indianapolis Star mentons a pretty intriguing option through trade: Paul Millsap.
The Pacers talked to the Utah Jazz about forward Paul Milsap prior to the draft. Expect them to make a phone call to the Jazz again. The 26-year-old Milsap, a Pacer killer in the past, averaged a career-high 17 points last season.
Millsap would make for the power forward the Pacers are looking for in free agency through David West or Nene. If they were to trade Roy Hibbert as part of the package, thiy could sign Nene, then add Millsap making one of the better front courts in the Eastern Conference, along with Danny Granger. The Pacers are clearly looking to enter the conference race right now, instead of waiting to see their young pieces develop.
The question is, what's the objective? Can the Pacers win a title with Danny Granger as their best player? They've put together an interesting, fast, young team that can defend at one end, hit from the perimeter, and get out in transition. But do they have a team that could get hot and go on an unpredictable run to the title? OK, it wouldn't be unpredictable if we could answer that. But the point is that the Pacers are loading up for what is likely a team whose ceiling is the second round.
Have to try something, I guess. The Pacers surprised people last season. If they spend wisely, and that's a big if, they could do the same this year with heightened expectations.
“I learned last season that this was a business,” Nene told Yahoo! Sports. “No matter how nice you are to people, no matter how nice people are to you, this is a business. I did my best for the team and they waited and waited to extend me. I was like, ‘Oh, OK, all these years playing good, doing your best and they still test you.’ That’s not about family, love and somebody liking you. It’s a business.
Do we even want Hibbert? I love his size but I seem to remember a lot of people on this board knocking him for certain defensive metrics as a rookie and about how slow he was to rotate. Also, how would the addition of Hibbert affect the development, or should I say playing time, for Favors and Kanter? On the surface, I like it. I'm just not sure though.
I have a love/hate with Hibbert. On one hand he is 7'3, that is huge and his offensive game is diverse. On the other hand his is slow as hell and would make Al Jefferson look like Amare Stoudemaire.
if the Pacers really want to win in their Granger-window, then why not throw out this trade?

Utah sends: Jefferson & Harris
Indy sends: Hibbert & Collison & Posey
If Hibbert agrees to an extension beforehand, then Utah gives a future pick.
Indy gets two experienced vets that know how to produce. Harris seems like a nice fit in an offense that can be dominated by Granger and George.
Utah also sheds enough salary that they can go after an FA.
Does Indy hang up? Why?
Two things
First, this trade doesn't affect the win total for the Pacers at all.
Second, they are still stuck without a productive PF. So basically, Indiana adds payroll and an upgrade at PG (debatable) but they still have a hole at PF. It doesn't make sense to me.
