Paris under attack

Or is that a story of some desperate guys trying to find a more peaceful and profitable place to live? Please tell me.

Falsifying passport is a serious crime no matter what way you will look at it. Criminals should not be granted refugee status, period.

Not an answer to my question. And, falsifying passports is one thing; suggesting that they're on their way to carry out some mass homicide is another. In one scenario you've over-stretched the available evidence and look like a tool.

I think worrying that they are up to nefarious ends it absolutely a legitimate concern. Well within the realm of possible. Do we know? Of course not. But it is a reasonable concern.

sitting at home on a computer hundreds of miles away from the arrests, knowing only what the computer is saying, and making global claims about security.... that's almost always an exercise in absolute stupidity.

If those five had indeed intentions to orchestrate an terrorist attack, chances are that they at some point talked to someone who's a suspected terrorist and enjoys extra surveillance. And if that was the case, chances are that some newspaper will get a hold on that piece of information and publish it at some point. Patience is key!

Airstrikes by themselves will never work. I do think a robust airstrike campaign is part of the solution in a much more comprehensive plan.

A more comprehensive plan as in a ground invasion that is bound to fail, but will surely cost us 100s of billions of dollars? Oh, our leaders will soon enough try to sell that idea again. Count on it.

It's such a difficult situation. All of the choices seem bad.

We are not even presented with legitimate choice. The choices we're presented with fall within certain boundaries that cannot but maintain the status quo that gave rise to the current problem, while pretending to actually do something about it. Many students of the issue have actually proposed better paths, as Dalamon outlines in this thread and others. But they would include cutting off our "allies" who are the main ideological sponsors of terror, and pressuring untouchable Israel to move toward a compromise in the region, while supporting positive elements that do not offer significant economic advantage to the West (like who cares what Lebanon or Jordan does, regardless of how liberal and functional they are). None of that will happen, and the circus will carry on.

are you excited for the legitimate choice for United States President in 2016?

Sanders is intriguing, but without a a major shift in popular opinion on many key issues, I doubt he is sufficient to set the country in a different direction. And I doubt he gets the nomination anyway, so we're stuck with candidates who have little inclination to upset the powerful interests in charge of our foreign policy.

Is that what might happen? Sure. But it is not really what I was thinking. I want a very limited US footprint on the ground.

Unfortunately America isn't really invested in solving this problem.

Rather be safe then sorry IMHO. Somehow I doubt that people who use stolen and falsified passports are going to become decent citizens and obey the laws in their new country. May not be carrying any terrorism attacks but may just rob and rape like a lot of them do in Sweden.

Answer me this: Would you sleep well knowing that refugees with false passports just moved into your neighborhood?

you answer me this:

if you had been living in a land that had been **** upon and at war for as long as Syria has, then wouldn't you do whatever necessary to find a more peaceful and workable situation? I'd falsify the hell out of whatever documents necessary to free my ***.

I'm not going to distract myself with your question. My point is that you don't know enough to praise or condemn those people.

Holy ****. You realize there are millions of Muslims currently living in the US, right? Those won't be the first 4 Muslims in the US. So it's too late! The Rapist gene is already spread among us! And we thought the black violence gene is the biggest danger to society!

You being naive. How is living in a land like Syria prevented you from having real passport? If you falsifying you most likely have something in your history which makes your application for refugee status denied. Means you are not a good person and do not deserve more peaceful and workable situation.

lmao... I'm being naive??? Why don't you look into the realities of emigrants from Syria at this moment in history and get back to me. When you do, I'd like to know how much you'd like to be forced out of a country that has such an undesirable passport.
