If your neighbor, who has a long history of making poor choices decides to jump off a cliff, will you follow?

There is almost always a stupid desperate franchise out there willing to shell out max deals for role players. Just because Golden St or Minny does it, doesn't mean you should. The funny thing is, we just recently recovered from a horrific contract. Yet, we learned nothing from it.

We are already tight with money now and this team still needs a hell of a lot of improving to do. Had hayward been signed to a Burks/Favors like deal we could have made other deals to improve the franchise. If hayward wanted to leave for more money, great! We could sign another role player for far less. Hell, just a player like junk yard dog would be giving us the type of shooting and scoring hayward is currently giving us for a fraction of the cost.

The Hayward deepthroaters need to put their love affair for their sexy french maid on hold and think about what most of us fans care about, the well-being of our franchise. A well being now being stunted by their maid's lackluster performances and max pay preventing us from really improving this franchise. I want a championship, not another 2-4 years of mediocrity.
 
While browsing through some overall NBA stats today I came across this:

Hayward and Parsons are putting up practically identical shooting/scoring stats through 4 games. Parsons is still a better shooter %-wise, but Hayward is a much better rebounder and passer.

Parsons also gets the luxury of playing with Dirk, and last year Harden. He rarely sees double teams like Hayward does.
 
Hayward averages 7.3 rpg, 5.3 apg, 0 bpg, 1.0 spg, 1.8 TOpg in 36 mpg.

Parsons averages 4.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, .3 bpg, 1.0 spg, 1.5 TOpg in 33 mpg.
 
It's very difficult to compare them strictly on statistics because they don't play the same role. At all.

They are extremely similar players, those who hate on Hayward yet really like Parsons are comical. If we had Parsons instead of Hayward, I guarantee you he would put up very very very similar numbers. Neither player is a good shooter off the dribble, both are much better in catch and shoot situations. Neither has the handle to be a #1 on even a bad team.

I just don't get how Hayward's ability to create is just thrown aside. It really helps the team for someone of his size and position to be able to create for his teammates.

Also about 65% of Parsons FG's were assisted last season, only 50% of Hayward's so there's that as well.

I still think this thread is crap.

Parsons could probably create at least a bit if he were ever on a bad enough team to need him to do that. Of course, Hayward's percentages would likely be much better on a team where all he did was hit spot up threes. (Hint: People who like one better than the other are delusional. Same player.)

Did a little more digging...found more interesting nuggets in this Hayward/Parsons debate:

In Head to Head matchups, Hayward has the better shooting/scoring numbers but Parsons passing and rebounds are better. Complete opposite.
 
Said it before the season started but I am coming around while Parsons has been playing well, Hayward has been better. I love it, Hayward is earning his money.
 
Now go find all of Thrillers comments about how Hayward is AK and how this contract will kill the franchise.

Then find all the posters who wanted Lance instead of Hayward. How's Lance doing btw?
