I wouldn’t care, in the event that Gobert was traded, if he stayed in the western conference. It would be like the curse of the Bambino and I’d hope that everyone from the ownership, to the FO, to the coaching staff, and at least one of the players, would have to have their nose right above their own ****, as publicly as possible, as long as was necessary.

Yep, that's been my thinking too... both or neither. It will be really hard to keep competitive and replace either of them quickly enough. In the case of keeping Mitchell - we don't have enough time to convince Mitchell to stay - he will either ask out or just leave in FA when we are not competitive enough without Rudy. In case of keeping Rudy - we won't have enough time to get great offensive initiator and get him to top level before Rudy's prime is over. I'd be tempted to just keep both and try to do moves around them so I can use their window.

But if we have any indication that Mitchell might ask out... I think I'd rather us just start over and do Gobert a solid and send him somewhere where he can compete. BTW I wouldn't care if I'm making a Western Conference team stronger in the short-to-medium term. We will be rebuilding during that period so who cares...
I wouldn't care either... if we were rebuilding. If we are trying to appease Donovan making another team the favorite while he leads a .500 team would lead to him quickly asking out.

I am excited for this series a bit regardless of outcome. If they overcome the somewhat healthy Mavs then maybe they can be the team we thought they were.... if they flame out its a strong message that its time. Management won't be as bold as I would be but the message will be sent.

When can we offer Mitchell an extension? After next season I think? I wouldn't be doing anything to appease a diva who's not committed to the team. I would offer him the max extension with no player options and if he doesn't accept, I'm shipping him away.

He's under contract for 3 more years... he has a player option for year 4. We can offer an extension end of next year to give him two more years. He can say no and it might be the right business decision... so it won't give you any impression on whether he stays or not. We still have lots of time to get value for him. My issue with waiting is you could also get value for all the non-Rudy and non-Donovan parts as well and not waste a year spinning your wheels.

The Jazz would have to be nuts to trade Rudy to Golden State. In fact, they'd have to be nuts to trade him at all IMO.

The weird thing about this "rumor" is that it's said in a way that they are speculating that the players would want Gobert. Draymond, who is more or less the leader of the team, is the most vocal hater of Gobert.

Draymond playing the long game by trying to tank Rudy's value so the Warriors can get him for a Wiggins/Moody/Kuminga package? Bold.

Also, kind of wouldnt shock me if they traded Green/Wiseman for Gobert...

Green's next year would be his final contract year before his player option. I have no idea what Green's market value is, but I would assume he would try to cash out on his last big contract. Maybe GSW dont want to pay that...

I think they'd offer Wiseman/Wiggins and picks...after the Jazz said no, they might offer Green. If the Jazz do trade Rudy, I would hope they'd at least be smart enough not to trade him to a western conference rival.

If they offering Wiggins they got to give up a lot more draft capital and/or Moody/Kuminga.

At least with Draymond Utah could potentially pivot into a new kind of team that would be interesting.

I’m not sure we’d want Green (or that he’d want us) but your other point is important. Warriors are in extreme tax hell. If they sign Green to another deal it gets worse… they also need to pay Poole. I could see a move where they send Green out as part of a trade to avoid this scenario. I think it would be something where Green goes to a third team… like Brooklyn, Lakers, or some ****.

I think it’s more likely to be Wiseman/Moody/Kuminga/picks and Wiggins but they might have a follow up deal where they move Green.

Again… even if they don’t do that deal that is as good a package to use as leverage as there could be… plus the extra shine of “hey the Warriors want Rudy and they are the light years team”. I think Atlanta especially would want to push a little more into the middle of the table since they are trying to build the poor man’s warrior part 2.

The problem with trading Rudy is if you do it you create a juggernaut somewhere... if you do it out west to GS, Memphis, or Dallas then you may as well trade Donovan too. You think he will be excited about the picks or young players you get in the deal while Rudy is on the title favorite.

Trade both or trade neither.

If you traded both a package of Kuminga, Wiseman, Moody, Wiggins and picks is actually pretty good to kickoff a rebuild. If anything you can leverage that offer to get more elsewhere.
And Rudy gets at least one ring. Then they send Donovan to purgatory to reflect on how he pissed away his privilege.

I'm warming to the idea of a Donovan to NY trade where they give us 6 firsts (they can do it) as well as all of their okayish prospects. All picks must be unprotected. You control the draft of the team with a dumpster fire in their front office for the next 7 years. When they suck we can mock MTJK.

I like both guys so I will likely root for both wherever they end up (if we blow it up of course). Part of me will hope they look back and say "damn... we should have handled that differently".

Any draft where both Rudy and DM are out the door would really signal that we just want picks and a hard reset. Take a boatload of picks and rebuild the team to really compete five years from now. I don't want players of value that aren't part of the long-term vision - give me expirings to help even out the salary implications.

Progress can happen quick - PHX and MEM were the laughing stock of the league 3-4 years ago and look at them now. The Pels aren't there yet and OKC definitely isn't, but they have a lot of years left in them. It takes getting lucky in the draft and a coach who can activate that talent.

You wouldn't root for Don if his team's draft picks were ours.

I wouldn't root against him or wish him ill... maybe put it that way. I'd root for him to score 40 a game and go 0-82 :)

By time the really juicy picks came to fruition he will have wised up and bailed on the Knicks. That's my master plan.

It will help that we only have Houston and maybe OKC that are still tanking. OKC has really had to pull strings to lose the last couple years. SGA ain't gonna be cool with this much longer. If they land a top 3 pick this year they may just let their young talent pull them up. They even benched Poku to help lose games.... POKU!

I don't like talking trades right when we are about to go to the playoffs, but for ***** and giggles if Toronto wants him that badly

Gobert and Gay
for

Two of...
Siakim, Gary Trent Jr, and OG Anonoby
