Playoff Game 3: Jazz vs Clippers 8pm Mountain Time ESPN 2

The winner of this series is going to get crushed by the Warriors. This season is a learning experience to find out what it takes to win.

Jazz would probably win this series if they had Gobert. It's impressive the Jazz are even competitive without him.

Losing Gobert is like the Clippers losing Chris Paul last year.

I think if the Jazz had a healthy Gobert, they could have at the very least put a scare into the Warriors. An upset is extremely unlikely, but I think the Jazz had a much better chance at it than the Clippers do.

Oh and Bout time at the Gateway sucks monkey balls. First and last time I go there. Horrible service lame atmosphere, and despite being across the street from Vivint they had KUEN on one of their screens. Seriously ****ing public TV. Some medical show bs.

CPee3 got the EXACT same call. This isn't even a game if the refs call half the **** they missed.

CP3 didn't even get touched on his 3. Literally zero contact. On that one, the fact that it was continuation isn't bull****, it's the fact that it was even called a foul at all.

It will be interesting to see the NBA's 2 minute report - and what it says about Diaw's 3, and if it was a continuation or not.

Comments on the game:

We lost :(

The game was fantastic to be at. The atmosphere was amazing, and it was my first live playoff game and I had the time of my life.

I got to cheer for Neto which is a dream come true, if you heard someone screaming Netoooooo it was probably me. My voice isn't as pleased as I am, but worth it.

I made a bad Withey joke.

I miss Rudy, he was in every huddle and I can tell he wants to be out there.

It was awesome catching up with jazzgal and I'm so glad she came...plus not too many harpring comments so win win ;)

Sucks that we lsot, but so glad I went and got to experience it.

Still don't understand that Boris shot. First how does that go in? Second why didn't it count? If they say it should have in the two minute thing what happens? Do they just say oops?

Get the next one Jazz!! I'll be watching from home.

Which highlights the problem of the Jazz ever switching someone else on DeAndre. Any soft miss around the rim, Jordan can rebound over anyone not named Derrick Favors, which is a big reason why Favors is so hesitant to ever leave Jordan.
I agree with this, but sometimes I feel like Favors leaves to go help when cp3 drives and then can't get back to deandre before he gets a lob for a dunk. We just miss rudy, I'm proud of the fight the Jazz have been showing, Favors included. He did not go into this series expecting to play probably more than 20mins a game and he's doing his best.

I'm not gonna dump on favors and blame the defensive failures on him. Paul is one of the top PGs in the league. He's easily the best player out there. We aren't going to shut him down. However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't re-analyze what we are doing on him. Why not give Exum some burn? He's long, like Jingles, but has greater close out speed and quickness. If we want to pest Paul, perhaps Raul should get some burn?

Also, Why not go underneath the screens? We seem to try to go over the top/fight through screens which leave to paul wrecking havoc inside.

Having said that...

The thing that concerns me the most isn't our defense, but our offense. How many other NBA teams could've beaten the Clippers tonight if their starting PF and C had given them merely 4 pts and 7 rbs??? Even Lebron had far more help when he was going nuclear the other night in game 3 as Thompson and Love gave him 22 pts and 16 rbs.

The lack of offensive production from our frontcourt is killing us. Thankfully in game 1, Favors had a good game and Joe was a miracle. But since then? We've gotten nothing. At this point, why the hell isn't Lyles playing over Diaw? What does Diaw do better than Lyles? Pass? But with Jingles we have enough passers in the starting lineup. We need scoring and athleticism. Why didn't whithey get any burn tonight? Especially when it was obvious that Favors was hurting and Diaw was as slow as ever.

If our offensive production from our PF/C doesn't improve drastically, it won't matter what positions 1-3 do or how good our defense is. That's what concerns me. Will gobert be a go in game 4? How diminished will he be? Can Lyles or Bolomboy be that energy guy to give us extra possessions, dunks, and offensive production? If gobert can't go on Sunday, Who is going to score for us from our 4-5? Is our only hope really that Joe turns back the clock to 2007?

What an absolutely disgusting game. How the **** do you give up a 15 point run at home in the 4th quarter. Totally and completely disgraceful.

Paul goes nuclear, the refs give the clippers all the calls, and Hill/Hayward don't get any help.

If we just get 1 of our starting frontcourt guys into double figures today, we win. The mere fact that Raul Neto in his little stint outscored both Diaw and Favors for the game leaves me surprised that it was even that close. Had Hayward just had a mediocre game, the clippers would've won in a blowout.

The issue isn't defense, it's offense. We are playing 3 on 5

I've been advocating for some Neto on Paul since he came back from injury. Neto is simpally a better defender than Mack attack. Also. Paul won't tower over Neto. I did think jingles played good defense on Paul and was frustrating him. I love jingles, he is playing his heart out every game.

Bad News: We should have won that game and it's a heartbreaker

Good News: Blake Griffin is injured

Very seldom would I celebrate an injury. But all I have to say is, "**** you, Clippers. **** you, **** you, **** you!" I hope Blake Griffin never plays basketball again.

The chris Paul continuation 3 pisses me off so bad. It was BS. Stop calling that ****!!! That said they still went on a 15-0 run. Our offense died so there's that. Refs sure as hell didn't do us any favors though.

Withey and Bolomboy both suck. If you combine two of them into one player it could still be a half player.
As much as Favors is not doing well, he is injured, tired blabla, i totally understand why Quin not playing them.
We have abundancy on wings but our frontcourt without Gobert is thrash.

Why are people going on rants about our offense in a game where our offensive rating was 120?

Blows my mind.

So, I thought about this after the disbelief of how the game ended and I had a chance to cool down. I still believe the refs did a job on us to a degree, it seemed as if the Clipps were allowed to get away with a lot more than the Jazz on the physical side of things. That being said, the Jazz have to adjust knowing this is likely the case in every game, it's always been that way.

But.... Here's the deal, it's 2-1, so if you think about it, if we win Game 4 at home we're tied up and essentially both teams have done their jobs. Than it's just a best of 3 matchup and all we have to do is hold serve at home and steal a game in LA like we did to Houston all those years ago when nobody believed in our team. Win Game 4, all of the momentum swings back to the Jazz with a renewed confidence to get the job done.

Why are people going on rants about our offense in a game where our offensive rating was 120?

Blows my mind.

Because our offense wasn't good. Our starting frontcourt scored 4 pts. That's it. Don't mistake career games from Hayward and Hill as good offense. That's a big reason why we choked in the 4th. Hayward and Hill had carried us the entire game. Nothing left in the tank and the clippers knew they didn't have to defend certain players.

Blows my mind.

We didn't score for 6+ minutes in the 4th. We were up 96-88 at one point and we're down 101-96. 15-0 run they went on. If somebody hits one shot it's a completely different outcome.
