The thing is Withey really struggles boxing out Jordan. Favors at least boxes out pretty well. I dont recall Jordan ever getting a rebound over Favors like he does on Withey.
 
These losses leave our future more in doubt, and we've iced out Lyles and Exum.

Hood isn't the answer? Favors, Burks. Will Ingles, Hill, Hayward come back.

If Gobert can't go it's Bolomboy time. I realize it's a stretch but Favs doesn't have a prayer.
 
Exum and Lyles not playing at all looks even more ignorant when you see how great Neto played. When he went out, everything started to unravel.

Good coaches keep the opponent guessing. This series is about inexperienced players and our coaches learning. There is a reason San Antonio seems to have a new young player emerge every year. Its because Pop shows confidence in a young guy like Green, Mills, etc and they emerge. We dont do that. Never have.

Like this play:

Hill does a poor job staying locked in on Paul, cheating too much to get over the screen if he chooses to use it. Then he does a cross over on Favors which is expected. Hard for any PF to stay with Paul in space here after the PG gave up that penetration. Then Joe Johnson doesnt help at all. You have to help there and make Crawford hit the 3. You cant just give up that layup. Say what you want about Favors on that play, but the help defense was worse.
 
I am surprised Withey didnt get 5-10 minutes. I think he could have brought some energy and made Jordan work for a bit. More importantly it would have given Favors a break from busting his *** trying to slow down a much larger, stronger, healthier, better game shape, and more athletic player in Jordan. Favors cant be playing 38 minutes in a game matched up with Jordan and expected to do anything at the end of the game right now or probably ever. He is a PF and has never been a good center.

Bolomboy would have been useless matched up with Jordan. Jordan is so much bigger, longer and athletic than Bolomboy. He would not have been able to hold his ground against Jordan.
 
Something tells me that Gobert could have played this game but the Jazz didn't want to risk and thought they could win this one at home without him too.

Neto wasn't supposed to work either, effort can go a long way in the NBA.

Jordan would probably have 20 rebounds instead of 13 if you put a small lightweight like Bolomboy on him. It takes enormous strength to contain Jordan.

Withey had a couple good stretches in game 1 when Gobert went down. We had nothing to lose by giving him a run like Neto got.
