Playoffs 2018 Thread

Rockets did manage to get something out of this game. New playoff record, 27 straight missed threes. 7-44. Wow! I’m pretty impressed that as terrible as they shot that this wasn’t a bigger blowout.

As they like to say in Houston 3 is greater than 2 And zero is less than either 2 or 3 !

No one said we want a "3 and NO D" player. Anderson can't guard a cardboard cutout. We just need a PF who can be a credible threat from deep while being a good defender.

sure i just don't want a stretchy 4 for the sake of it if he's a poor defender. there's a bunch of these shooters who are dreadful defenders like the 20 million dollar man

You're just used to seeing Harden go to line every time he flops. Refs let players get physical on both sides. There are always missed calls. I think the refs did a decent job of letting the teams decide the game, not the whistles.
Refs were terrible and their calls were favouring GSW. If this game was officiated decently it would be a closer game.

For those who think the nba is rigged, I’d think the teams that lost would’ve made for a more compelling finals.
Games like this convince me it's not rigged; just looks that way sometimes. No way does the NBA (and ABC) want this match up yet again.

Not one bit of truth to this. Harden tried to draw a foul from forty feet (just like CP3 does) and claim he was going up for a shot. I'm sure that refs are well aware of Harden's reputation and get sick of his antics. This may result in the odd moment when he actually does get fouled and they assume he's just flopping again.

I really dont think it matters what the matchup is. Lebron is going to drive ratings. The Cavs/Celtics game 7 was something like the best rating for a conference finals game in the last 10 years.

People complain about the Warriors, but people watch them too.

You dont think they played inside-out on offense?

I don’t know but I just remember their big three all being guys who like to shoot from outside the paint and are not big time post up guys.

Smfh. Are you high? This dubs team is complete garbage. They have 4-5 guys who know how to play basketball, take dumb shots like crazy, and are on the road.

They lose by double digits. Game is ****ing over.

Mods, can we nominate this for the dumbest post of the year award already? Doubt anybody can beat it.

Dumbest? It was reverse psychology at its finest.

That's more of a reverse jinx than psychology. If Steve Kerr told them that, and it worked, than you can say it was reverse psychology. Since they are not aware of what you said, or that any of us even exists, it wasn't.

The rules are much too ambiguous in this case. There was at least one, maybe more, insantance(s) where Harden was contacted attempting a three pointer, and it’s a call they make basically every time leading up to that point, and then not to call it in the biggest game of the season is called confusing. It needs to be consistent.

I consider myself one of the most fair and naive people when it comes to reffing, and always think they are doing their absolute best to call things fairly, and I think they did that last night also. Just were some weird calls, the Harden stuff notwithstanding. Gordon drove to the bucket once and got mauled by Bell who did not maintain verticality. There looked to be a couple flops (by Curry and Bell) that they called in the warriors favor, and at least a couple questionable out of bounds calls, which seemed to end up in the warriors favor each time.

All that being said, Houston lost cuz they couldn’t hit any shots and were missing a 25% usage player who has led the league in offensive win shares three different times (Curry has done that once btw). Anyway, they might have had a favorable whistle and better luck in some of the other games.

The thing about fixing games is that the officials don't have to make every single call 1 sided.
Game 7 was a huge case of conspiracy. Houston was up nearly 20, Harden gets fouled on 2 3's and Gordon was obviously fouled. Somehow none were called and the lead dropped in half in 2 minutes.
Golden State is notoriously amazing in 3rd quarters and didn't need much help as Houston decided to "die" by the three.
The second half didn't need much help from the officials and I don't think they gave Golden State much more help.
The NBA is an entertainment company first and an basketball organization 2nd. Espn-ABC just paid millions for the TV deal and they have been laying off people left and right. Its foolish to think Houston and Boston would be better rated then Golden State and Lebron. It's pretty clear. Ratings=money.
