Pokemon Go

Oh no, it came few days ago in Canada. My kid is running like crazy around the neighbourhood catching them. She asked me to drive her to one pokestop by community centre and there was like 20 teenagers and some adults walking like this....

I have all of those too, but most of them came from eggs. I'm very far from evolving any of them.

In Utah, I've been able to evolve a lot of ground/rock/fire/normal/flying pokemon many times over. My apartment area spawns a ton of magnemites, mankeys, and meowths in addition to the typical pidgey/spearow/ratatta combo. Ponytas and geodudes are common just a neighborhood over. Ive managed to get two Arcanine because the area around my work has growlithe.

I have a lot of Evvee's, Abras and Drowsees and Venonnates in addition to this list.

****ing awesome!
Thanks for sharing that

But eff them! They're just plain losers if they're not out playing sports and getting around on their own. SUCH A WASTE OF TIME. GET A LIFE, LOSER.

Can we get the true haters to come forward and just eat some crow? It'll be over way quicker this way.

The dog shelter ran a brilliant marketing campaign based on the fact that people are embarrassed to admit they are playing this game, and you convolute that into proof that people who are not fans of the game are losers?

Almost got it right... but you didn't. With 7300 posts I'd expect you to be able to see the sarcasm line.

Dog shelter ran a brilliant campaign that helped get dogs adopted, and then I expect the poor schmucks that were calling the game poor, and the players poorer, to accept that the game is doing way more good than bad.

This guy caught 'em all!

New York (CNN)Pokémon Go is the video game that has everyone talking. The interactive hit blends the virtual world of Pokémon with the real world, and it has people across the globe going outdoors with just one goal: gotta catch 'em all.A Brooklyn man is laying claim to being the first person to catch all 142 Pokémon available in the United States. CNN reached out to Nintendo and Triplepoint PR, the firm representing Pokémon, for confirmation and has not yet received a response.

"You want to catch 'em all and become a Pokémon master, [it's] the childhood dream, but it never really occurred to me I might be the first one to do it until I got pretty close," said Nick Johnson.

I enjoy it within reason. But there are people going all in on this thing and its amazing to watch.

Guy in Memphis is charging $18 a head for a "Pokémon Go Safari" that is 2 1/2 hours long and includes dropping 2 lures.

I joined a FB page for my county to talk some smack and see what's going on when I decide to play. But there are groups to devise strategy, contact info, mapping and learning spawning schedules...

Has it died down a bit as far as foot traffic goes? Seems that way from my view, but I don't play it. But I haven't been seeing the mass gatherings at the library or anything anymore.

I'm sure the novelty has worn off on some but the game is still hugely popular. It will see spike sin players anytime they release another generation of Pokémon.

I am level 24. I have found (or evolved) over 100 of the possible pokemon and have 14 pokemon over 2000 CP, including 2 of the 3 legendary representing the factions. It is starting to get boring.

Noob. I have all but 1.

It hasn't really died down at all where I live. There is this spot close to my house where there are literally three Pokestops within 50 feet of each other. There's a certain spot where up to six cars can park and hit up all three at one time. Every night there is around 20 people or so at a time at this spot. Every one of the three has a lure module on it and people stay until 1 AM almost everyday. It's literally every night and this is only one of the many spots in the city.

My neighborhood has about 5 small parks within 1/4 mile of each other or so (clearfield). Each of them have between 2 and 7 pokestops and each has at least 1 gym. Every single night they are packed with cars and people from about 5 until well after midnight. It is insane.

Also, some of the people playing the beta (who were some of the original ingress players, which is also by Niantic and google) were invited to a closed beta for pokemon go, including me and my son, and we had the chance to win beta eggs from pokestops. I hatched 2 of the 3 legendaries from these eggs (Articuno and Zapdos). They were supposed to reset everything after the beta but the legendaries and anything we had evolved to full evolution remained. Of course you cannot find any more of the legendary birds to further evolve yet so for now they are an oddity at best as there are better pokemon currently in the game. For example until the first full server crash/update a couple of weeks ago you could evolve an Arcanine to well in excess of 2700 CP, which is nuts. I have one and so does my son. We can place them both on a gym, battle low levels between each other to power-level and to level up the gym, then add the variations of vaporeon that are also over 2000 and hold that gym for a long time. We held a single gym for 7 days straight with 6 pokemon on it with the lowest at a CP of about 1800. It took a concerted effort by team urine (the yellow team, of course we are team valor, the only legit team =) to take the gym from us. We took it back in a half hour.

But it has reached the point of the grind that most games like this tend to reach at some time or another. Spin the pokestops, run out of pokeballs and greatballs, run out of potions, wait or go find another pokestop, get a ton of razzies, never enough pokeballs. And now the experience required to level is insane. There are a few tricks to powerlevel but it just gets you to the grind portion faster which then makes the game boring.

Anyone that has been our experience so far. I think this game may have staying power depending on how they adapt to the problems/glitches/stalls in the game. It is well over 3 years later and I still play Ingress on the reg so I think Pokemon go has a chance. But if you get few high level players on the same faction that work at it you can own some serious real estate for a long time. The best our team has done (about 8 of us) is held 12 gyms for 4 consecutive days before losing a single gym. So the potential is there for a fast playing faction to crowd others out in a local area. Luckily the collecting and evolving factor make for a semi-interesting side-game.

By the way, once you hit around level 20 you start to see pidgies starting at over 300 CP, found one as high as 405 or so. They evolve pretty well. And there is enough randomness to the game that occasionally you get some fairly rare pokemon at higher levels than you would expect for your play level. At level 12 or so I found an eevee at 385 base CP. He turned into a very nice vaporeon before I even hit level 15.

I wonder how long it will be before they start releasing the next generations of Pokémon. More than anything that will go a long way towards keeping things fresh. Getting 140ish Pokémon is a lot easier that 700+

Allow trading
Allow in game chat via a friends list
Allow player v player battles
Somehow encourage more inter team rivalries via contests or something

The last 4 you mentioned are supposedly coming before too long, starting with a better method of gym defense. They could take this so many different directions. I think now though is the time to start trying to monetize it individually, as was mentioned in previous posts. Anyone wanna go find a glut of eevees? I know 4 places in clearfield/layton that reliably produce eevees. Just $10 per person per eevee caught! Now that is a deal and a guarantee!
