I'm going to start hosting my regular poker tournaments about once a month.

CNonC5N.jpg

The first one will be on Saturday, May 19th at 4pm.

This will be a T10,000 chip tournament with a buy-in of $40. There will be 1 $40 rebuy or add-on. One or the other, not both. I expect it to last 5-6hrs.

If you're on the Gustavo's current poker email list I'll be sending out an email after I post this. If you want to be on the poker email list PM me your email address and I'll add you.

For anyone who was at the jazzfanz get together poker tournament and that was your first time playing at my house, this will be a more serious, better organized game than that. Promise.

If you want additional info you can ask here or send me a PM.

Here's the email

Game #1

$40 buy-in with a limit of 1 $40 rebuy OR $40 Add-on. (one or the other, not both)

Starting chips = T10,000. Rebuy/add-on = T10,000

Rebuy period ends at the first break (2hrs). Any players who have not used their rebuy have the option to add-on.

Max players: 10/20*

*In order to open a second table I will need a volunteer to act as dealer. (see dealer info below)

When: Saturday, May 19th @4pm. Registration will open on May 12th.

Where: West Jordan, near Jordan Landing Mall. Address will be sent to registered players.

Ways to register:

1 – Go to www.blindvalet.com, click on the menu icon in the top-left corner, choose “join existing group” and enter group code LFWN

Once you’ve joined the group you can register, see who else has registered, see the blind schedule, payout structure, etc. By using the app during the game you can see the blind timer on your phone, get your seat assignment, see who is left in the tournament and more. I encourage everyone to try the app. Registration will open one week before the scheduled tournament.

2 – Respond to this email

3 – Send me a text at 801-***-XXXX

My goal is to host a full game of 18-20 players every tournament! To accomplish that we will all need to be recruiting new players. I encourage all existing people on the list who will be attending to bring a guest. Just let me know and I will register them. If you want to bring more than one guest please contact me ahead of time.

Feel free to forward this email to anyone you think might be interested. However, anyone not known to the group must contact me directly to register unless they are someone’s guest.

Dealer information: I will always have a dedicated (playing) dealer for each table. If there are no volunteers I will act as dedicated dealer. In order to open the second table for registration I will need at least one volunteer. To encourage volunteers dedicated dealers will receive $10 off their buy-in! This discount will come out of the prize pool. I would prefer two volunteers each game. In order to act as dedicated dealer please be reasonably familiar with basic poker rules and able to deal the cards without too many mistakes. Contact me if you’d like to be a dealer.

Food: I plan to offer food for players, including a protein. For this one I’m planning shredded chicken sandwiches, hummus and veggies with dip. Please consider donating to help cover the cost of the food.

Feel free to bring your own snacks.

Drinks: I will usually have homebrewed beer on tap. I encourage all guests who like beer to try a sample. If you are drinking more than a sample I ask that you either contribute to help cover the cost of ingredients or also bring beer to share.

Feel free to bring your own drinks. I have a small fridge you can put them in to keep them cold.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I expect to host about once a month.

I will be switching up the format game to game. I hope to get a strong group going and be able to offer a high buy-in deep stack tournament towards the end of the summer.

If you have any recommendations or requests, please let me know.

Oh, one last thing… Once the tournament goes to one table my second table will be open for a cash game. Players who have busted out of the tournament are welcome to start a game as soon as they have enough players to do so. If you are interested in ONLY participating in the cash game let me know and I will text you once the table is open. It will be a players choice game, but my recommendation would be .25/.50 NLHE. Someone in the cash game MUST be willing to act as banker and be responsible for buy-ins and payouts.

Thanks for reading! Hope to see you at the game!

Part of description seems strangely specific to a certain Jazzfanz user.

I'm non-committal. Last time was a stars align kind of thing. Might happen. Hefty buy-in for me, though, even if I understand the reasoning for it.

I almost just flat out @Darkwing Duck 'd your ***, but thought that might be too aggressive. :)

Understandable. If you decide you want in just let me know. If you'd like to get the emails send me your email and I'll add you. I might not always announce games here. I could do a smaller and/or no rebuy/add-on game coming up depending on the feedback I get on this format.

I wouldn’t be able to come to all of the games, but when I can make it, consider me a standing volunteer to deal.
I’ll know the schedule for the next couple weeks of baseball on Monday (I think).

I sent my actual phone number in the email. When posting here I put "X" in place of the numbers after 801. Apparently putting three "X" in a row triggers the profanity filter, lol. ***

For my Jazzfanz friends who played in Gustavo's game. There will be a few things that I will do differently. The biggest of which is that I will not ask for buy-ins via paypal or apple pay or whatever else. Show up with cash, buy-in. If you win, you'll walk out with cash. I will make a trip to the bank before the game and get ample change, but that will be less necessary because I will generally keep buy-in amounts in multiples of 20, since that's what ATMs spit out. If for some reason you have a strong preference for using paypal I can accommodate that. Just let me know.

There will not be a bonus for paying ahead or being on time. I do REALLY appreciate when players are either on time or let me know that they will be late. I also REALLY don't like it when people have a seat and don't show up. But that's not something that I think should affect the game.

I will try to announce the date and time of the next game as far ahead as possible. We all have lives. Sometimes we're free on a days notice, sometimes we're not. Sometimes we could have arranged to do something before after or the next day. Anyway, I will try to announce the planned games as soon as I know when I'll be able to host. But I'm only going to open registration 1 week before the game.

I will always try to be as transparent as possible. I don't want to surprise people with add-ons or whatever, stuff that changes the stakes and the way one might strategize for a game.

Oh and if you're a jazzfanz friend who didn't get invited to Gustavo's game, that's because he seemed upset when one of his games seemed like it was going to get cancelled for lack of players and I was asked to find players, and I found several players and then he said in his next email to not invite people without asking his permission first.

You fielding your own team yet?

You ****s better donate too. $20-30 seems appropriate.
That's a little too much. I'm not running a business here, just don't want to be out of pocket feeding people and running out of beer all the time.

Call me classic but there’s something about poker and real cash, so I appreciate having that option as opposed to just paypal. With that said you can count me in.

My involvement in these depends on if I have any of my kids or not. I do not think I will on the 19th but I will double check. For me it is far more the social than the poker.

I've been a little back and forth on the add-on, and I've decided I'm going to eliminate that. So it's a $40 buy-in with a limit of one rebuy NO add-on. That will make it a little more affordable and not unnecessarily extend the duration of the tournament.
