What's new

Portland Trailblazers @ OUR Utah Jazz TODAY at 1900.

Portland living by the jump shot tonight. They've made some tough shots. Plus the refs are letting physical play go when we have the ball; and Portland has benefited from some ticky-tack foul calls. It also seems like guys are passing up open looks on the perimeter for 15-20 foot jumpers.

We've looked bad, really. Add in that Favors and Hood played minimal time in the 1st half and I think that says that we will be a different team in the 2nd half. Portland is playing lights out on offense and can't get any separation.

you are literally the only poster here insulting Burke's play. He's on pace for 20+ points off the bench. You're being a ****ing moron. How many points does he need to average to make you happy?

You've been watching him on the other side of the floor, right?

yup Burke's been our best defender at the 1. Why are you excusing the D of Hood and Burks? Are you also ignoring the fact that maybe our best defender was out for almost the entire 2nd quarter? Our help-D has been atrocious.

Trade for a solid PG, George Hill or even Chalmers would be a HUGE improvement.

we aren't losing this game because of bad one-on-one D from our PGs. Stupid way of analyzing this team. Rudy isn't having a good game. Derrick is sick and in foul trouble.

I'm not suggesting the team is playing well. Trey looks fine by comparison tonight, but that's hardly a compliment.

not if Rudy has another half like this. His only impressive play has been the block on Lillard when he was guarding him one on one.

This is an outrage! The Jazz can't get one call at home and the Blazers get bailed out every other possession. Maybe it's because it's like a morgue in there.

In the second half the Jazz will need Neto and Burke to stay in front of Lillard. I am hoping the Jazz shots start falling because they are getting good looks.

'fine'. On pace for 20 off the bench at >50% is 'fine', apparently.

We are losing the game on the perimeter tho.

And Chalmers would be a huge improvement? ROFL. That's a terminal case of greeneronothersiditis.

Half time thoughts

Burke finally doin what he should have been doin, being pesky.

Hayward tryin to be pesky. That's not what he should be doin. He's an anchor on D not a pest.

Burks is becoming more of a facilitator. Timing is still a little off, but I like what he's doin.

I hope I'm wrong, but Portland looks like a team that has our number. This is the same ish as preseason.

I'm obviously not suggesting otherwise. Look. Point-guards will always get into the paint when a screen is set. Welcome to the NBA. There are maybe 3 PGs in the entire NBA who can cut off drives after a screen is set. Most of the time, the point guard will get SOME penetration. Fortunately, our bigs are typically fantastic in their help, and knowing when to switch, when to hedge, when to challenge the penetrator.

Tonight has been awful in that front.

Bad one-on-one D against Lillard and McCallum is EXACTLY why the Jazz are losing. Portland has thrown the ball all over the gym and even though the Jazz are shooting poorly the game should be closer because of all the Portland turnovers. The Jazz guards need to make Lillard and McCallum a lot more uncomfortable.
