Power Tankings

There is no difference between sitting Favors with a sore back that he could play on, or sitting Favors because the season sucked and he is disheartened and is sick of losing or making sure you don't sign any of your good players so your odds of losing increase.

All three scenarios take players that are better than their replacements and not have them play for you so you will lose.

Oh, don't worry, I'd be dirty as **** with tanking if I was the GM. I totally agree with you, I was just curious to see if Stoked is okay with some forms of tanking but not others?

Honestly not sure where you stand on some stuff.

I know you aren't okay with things like sitting players when they could probably play, but are you okay with what the Jazz FO has already done?

I am 100% on board with the FO s off season actions. Wonderful off-season. Corbin and the players still need to try their butts off though.

jazz has most chance to have the worst record, because of the conference.
but the thing is that tank really is fragile.there is only a couple of wins between 1-8 and if jazz fall out of worst 4-5, this season wont mean much.
76ers are not a threat, they lose recently cause mcw is out.when he turns back they are simply a playoff team.
i see(and hope) jazz to be worst 1-2-3-4

Since getting rid of Gay Raptors are 3-1, just blew Bulls 99-77 in Chicago and look better then ever in last 4 years. Scratch them off tanking rankings.

The Tank is on...Big Time!

Every now and than the bad teams might win but that does't mean they aren't bad. After these couple of weeks I really see 7 Teams that are bad or tanking. These Teams are(in no particularly order):

Milwaukee Bucks: They just suck.

Orlando Magic: Actually they have some decent talent but it seems like they know how "important" the tank is.

Philadelphia 76ers: They have some nice pieces too. If they are going to win too much they will just sit MCW or do some movement in the roster.

Boston Celtics: They were messin around earlier in the season but they a right there.

Sacramento Kings: I actually don't think that they are tryin to tank but they are just bad. Not Milwaukee-bad, but bad.

Los Angeles Lakers: The proud franchise with the purple and yellow are in the mix for sure. Who would thought bout that?

Utah Jazz: I really like the talent and I think that this team is actually too god to get a top pick but somehow it's a blessing that the Jazz are in the West.

Actually there is one other team, the Bulls, that seems like they wanna do it but the roster is still too good and coach Thibs is no tanking for sure. But we have to watch their moves.

Other than that it don't see no more. The Nets and the Knicks are getting it together and have really no reason o tank. I think the Cavs will look really good with Deng at SF and after all these years they wann make the POs. The Pistons and have no reason to tank. The Bobcats wanna make the POs but should just fall out. And in the West nobady is tanking besides the 3 Teams I mentioned.

The Bucks are the lock at #1. 2-7 is open and it could get really ugly this season. I mean it's already ugly but it can get even worser.

Solid post

The Suns could easily pull their tank out of storage by moving Frye and/or Dragic. That may seem like a better alternative than barely making or barely missing the playoffs, which is where I would expect them to land playing without Bledsoe for a long stretch.

I think hornacek has been so good that they will continue trying to make the playoffs cause they are such a great story and hornacek will probably get coach of the year (he should anyway) which is something for a franchise to hang thier hat on.

Earlier in the week I saw a discussion about how many wins the teams had in the past and how their positions were in the standings. I don't really know in which thread that was so I just put it in here because it also fits in this thread I guess. I left out the shortdend 11/12 season becauce I was too lazy to do the win percentages. But what ever here it is:

The Jazz currently have 12 wins. And are playing .500 basketball since Trey and Williams are in the S5. There are 45 games left so at this pace the Jazz would win about 34 games. So that wouldn't leave the team with one of the worst 8 records. Let's see what some other paces would work out.

.450 ball
Wins: 32
Avg. since 2003: 8th
Last 5: better

.400 ball
Wins: 30
Avg. since 2003: 7th
Last 5: 8th

.350 ball
Wins: 28
Avg. since 2003: 6th
Last 5: 7th

.300 ball
Wins: 25,5
Avg. since 2003: 4th
Last 5: 6th

Obviously this is not the perfect system and I didn't even draw the oder teams and their current records in consideration but I think the table gives us a good overview about what the Jazz have to do(or not to do) to have a good chance to get a top pick. Having said that I really don't like the last 5 years and how the league is developing. The good teams especially comin playoff time are really competitive and it is really fun to watch the most of the games but it is really scarry how bad the bottom of the league has become.
