Predict the Rudy Gobert trade

No one is going to do that though. 31, Making the money he's making. No one is doing that. It maybe a want but it's an unrealistic ask.
I think we could get a pick heavy package if we wanted. Like the Hornets could send some draft capital... Our FO/Owner is desperate to not take a step back and wants to impress Donovan to keep him around. We'd likely have to take back some bad salary to get prospects and picks type package.

I think he played through some injury stuff iirc. Not sure why he'd be fried. He's younger than Rudy. He's had stamina issues before but I think you could do a lot worse than Clint at the 5 for 30 minutes a night. His contract might be slightly negative, but not by a lot.

I just don't know what the plan is at center if you move Rudy... we won't go small/5 out for 48 minutes. It also just makes the deal work a lot better. I think he could be moved later if we wanted.

I think Rudy is exceptional when it comes to his fitness and health. Capela might be better physically than he was last year, but it would be more surprising to me if he reached peak athleticism than if his body continued to break down. Maybe he gets his health back, but he definitely looked fried last year.

I also don't really care how much we win next year if we trade Rudy. My focus is on getting assets that can improve. Capela might still have some life left in him, but I think he's more likely to lose value going forward. I'd rather take a chance on a C who could improve his value even if we don't win as many games. My priority is not to get assets who make us win as much as possible, but acquire assets that can improve their value.

There's probably some teams out there that want to win and feel comfortable with Capela as their starting C. CHO, for example, is a good one. If we could turn Capela into PJ Washington, I'd take that even if it leaves us without a real plan at C.

Huerter is fine on defense. He's long... I think you are seeing a pasty redhead and making assumptions here.
Close… I see us trading Gobert for a pasty red head. Lol. I don’t think he’s a bad defender, but my god we need to get elite perimeter defenders and athletes on the perimeter if we want to be more than just an afterthought in the west.

And I get that but that's not how the FO is operating. I'd trade Donovan, Rudy, Bogey, Mike, Royce and just blow **** up.

Unless they are lying I don't think they share your goal. Their goal is to keep Donovan, which involves not taking a step back...

There is a reason you haven't heard from them. The cost is too great for a center that's not on the same timeline as LaMelo. Timeline is king in this league.

We are headed there anyway.

I think we have heard from them... there were plenty of rumors about it. I don't think they should do it and the money gets wonky because we won't take Hayward back in that deal (per local reporting). So it likely has less smoke right now as they might be on to different options. They should just make their picks and try to duct tape the position... but I think they are getting anxious to make the playoffs.

I would be just as happy with the #16 pick as I would be taking back Deandre Hunter, especially if it meant drafting Tari Eason at #16. I think Eason's floor is a Josh Smith-type 2-way forward and his ceiling is considerable.

Also the price for a western conference team might be higher than the price for an eastern conference team. Trading Rudy to Dallas, Memphis, GS would piss off Donovan I'd guess... and Ryan thinks keeping Donovan is the goal.

I simply wouldn't trade Rudy to Dallas or Memphis. Putting Rudy next to Luka or Ja is a terrible idea.

Right....I'm sure the FO would like to have Capela. I just think Capela is a bait and doing ATL a favor by taking him on. It seems like Turner is coming back, but if we could make him demand a trade out IND might want Capela. Don-Collins-Turner would be pretty special on offense.

Maybe we can convince Don to take in his friend Mo Bamba. I like him as a buy low candidate this summer.

Seems like a lot of cat and mouse right now.

Atlanta wants Utah to think that they are dangling Collins out there to Portland for #7. They also want to send the message that they want to extend Hunter. In other words, they don't need Rudy to get deals done.

meanwhile.....

Utah is leaking that they want a star caliber player, a young player and draft assets for Rudy.

Uh, seems to me that Utah wants Hunter, Collins and picks for Rudy while Atlanta wants to trade Capela, Collins and maybe a pick for Rudy.

Which is probably the right approach... but this is what took Trader Danny and turned him into Almost Ainge. If you feel you need to get 150% on every deal you don't do many deals. By all means start there.... but eventually you may have to set sights lower.

This is exactly why I'm skeptical that the Jazz actually move any pieces of the core. Danny has a reputation for overvaluing his own players in trade discussions.
