Preseason Game #2: OKC at UTAH

Oh, and why is there a newborn baby behind the Jazz bench? Who brings a little baby to a loud arena?

A gypsy fortune teller told the mother that if she had the baby at the arena, the child would grow up to be the greatest basketball player of all time. She figured it was worth a shot.

just saw the game
1. we have a good team
2. corbin didn't have a great suit, but i can leave with that
3. burks has balls
4. kanter has enes
5. marvin has length and i like his game
6. big al looks better when he has favors or kanter alongside of him
7. favors didn't put numbers but had an ok game, especially on defense.. the talent is there
8. foye actually made a long range basket but it was after the whistle

all in all very positive game

Based on this preseason game, I imagine the Jazz should be a better team.

The sole reason for that is Marvin Williams. Aside from Gordo, the Jazz played Miles, Howard, and Bell major minutes at the wing. Marvin improves the Jazz' "fifth starter" if you will by an insane amount, and the Jazz should win a few more games just because the Jazz have gone from piss poor to average at that spot.

I hope it is not too late for me to share my thoughts on the Hayward and Kanter drafts.

I actually really liked Hayward. I happened to catch a lot of Butler games. I immediately thought he was a Jazz type player. I HATED him at #9. I liked Babbitt and Sanders a lot. I wanted Hayward but not until after 15 or later.

I liked Kanter and I wasn't disappointed by him at 3,but I would have preferred Knight. I was stuck on the old school Jazz thinking of a smart heady type PG is what we HAD to have.

I liked Leonard a lot because Hayward was playing SG and Kawai was a perfect SF. I wasn't devastated by Burks but he wasn't my first choice.

Agree. Marvin might be the best overall player on the team right now. He's a good shooter and defender. And he IS a BIG upgrade over Miles, Howard and Braille. Let's just hope he gets enough touches.

I'm most intrigued by a lineup of Favors-Jefferson-Ma. Williams-Hayward-Mo Williams. Plenty of offensive firepower so Favors can just concentrate on playing defense and hopefully cleaning up the boards. Bring Burks and Millsap off the bench where they can be the main options with the subs.
